The Villainess Needs a Hug (Ivy Windsor) novel Chapter 837

Jamison looked up at her, his expression as gentle as always. “That was fast. Why didn’t you tell me you were coming? I was about to leave for the day.”

Ivy walked in, smiling at the other medical staff in the office. “You’re getting off this early?” she asked, surprised.

“Yeah, it’s not a busy day.”

Ivy was happy her husband could come home early, but she hadn’t forgotten the main reason for her visit. She held out her hand. “Where’s your physical report?”

Jamison paused, a hint of awkwardness on his face. “I’ll give it to you on the way home,” he said in a low voice.

His reaction piqued Ivy’s curiosity. She leaned in closer and whispered, “Don’t tell me there’s really a problem… down there?”

Why else would he be so secretive?

Jamison was speechless. He shot her a sideways glance. “Could you wish for something good for me for a change?”

Ivy suppressed a smile.

“Have a seat. I just need to check on a few patients, and then we can go,” Jamison said. He had been on his way to his rounds before her call interrupted him, but his duties still needed to be done.

“Okay, you go ahead,” Ivy nodded.

She sat down at Jamison’s desk and took out her phone. A message from Katrina popped up.

Kiki: *My mom finished her first round of treatment. The doctor said she can be discharged for a while once she’s stable in a few days.*

Ivy smiled, happy for her friend.

Ivy: *That’s great news! You must be so relieved.*

Kiki: *I am. And I really have to thank you, Dr. Ludwig, and Naylor’s parents. If it weren’t for your connections, my mom would have never gotten to see so many amazing specialists.*

Kiki: *I’m looking for an apartment now, a two-bedroom near the hospital so it’s more convenient for my mom.*

Ivy: *Why don’t you just stay at Golden Maple Estate? It’s empty anyway.*

Kiki: *I couldn’t do that. You’ve already helped me so much for the past six months. It’s one thing for me to stay there, but I can’t bring my mom to live in your house too.*

Katrina had a strong sense of propriety. She knew Ivy didn't mind and would continue to help her, but she couldn’t keep taking advantage of her friend’s generosity. Besides, living near the hospital meant her mom could get medical attention quickly if she ever felt unwell.

Ivy considered that with Naylor in her life now, Katrina’s situation wasn’t as difficult as before. They probably had their own plans, so she didn’t press the issue.

Back in Jamison’s car, just as she was about to ask again, the report was handed to her. Ivy gave her husband a sideways glance before taking it and flipping through the pages.

She went through it page by page. Everything seemed fine until she got to the urology section and paused.

Jamison watched her, a knot of tension in his stomach, afraid she would notice the two missing pages—the summary page that highlighted key findings and the page with the liver function results.

The rest of the tests were normal, including the urology exam. His function and vitality were excellent.

Ivy saw this and looked up at him, a half-smile on her face. “Everything looks… fine. Why were you being so secretive?”

Jamison relaxed when he saw she hadn't noticed anything amiss. He started the car. “I wasn’t being secretive. Your mind just went to the wrong place.”

Ivy shot him a glare.

“Alright, stop studying it and think about where you want to eat tonight,” Jamison said, deliberately changing the subject.

“Since you’re getting off early for once, let’s go to the family estate for dinner,” Ivy suggested. They ate out so often that even the finest cuisine was getting old. It was a rare opportunity to spend some time with his parents.

Jamison was pleased by her thoughtfulness, but the thought of his own potential illness cast a shadow over his mood.
