The Villainess Needs a Hug (Ivy Windsor) novel Chapter 1037

"I'm ignoring him. He just impulsively blurts out whatever crosses his mind. I've only been working for a few months and haven't even finished my probationary period. Getting pregnant now is basically career suicide."

But Ivy actually gave it some serious thought. "Honestly, I think his idea makes a lot of sense."

Katrina snapped her head back in shock. "You think I should get married and have a kid right now?"

"Think about it. Your career hasn't even taken off yet, so pausing it now isn't a huge loss. It's much better than hitting pause in two or three years when you're right in the middle of a massive upward trajectory. Plus, if you get pregnant early, aunt will be absolutely thrilled. Even if she doesn't make it to the birth, she'll at least get the joy of seeing you prepare for motherhood. And finally, bouncing back is so much easier when you're young. It does the least amount of damage to your body."

Katrina had already considered the first two points.

But she wasn't so sure about the third one.

"Do you really think having a kid young minimizes the physical toll? I've seen influencers online describing childbirth like a literal horror movie. I am nowhere near mentally prepared for that."

Ivy used her own experience as proof. "Look at how well I recovered. I bounced back way faster than I expected, and I had twins, which is notoriously harder on the body. Sure, those horror stories online are real, but it varies wildly from person to person."

The physical and emotional toll of pregnancy truly was a roll of the dice. Some women breezed through it, while others suffered agonizingly traumatic experiences.

At that moment, Katrina had no idea that she was destined to draw the short straw...

But after hearing Ivy's reasoning, Katrina was genuinely convinced.

Beyond the three logical points her best friend had outlined, there was one more factor.

Naylor had explicitly mentioned that his parents were desperate for grandchildren. They were getting older, and enjoying their golden years surrounded by grandchildren was their greatest wish.

Given all that, she didn't seem to have a single valid reason to delay having a baby.

She stayed at Ivy's until the late afternoon, when Naylor called.

"When are you coming back? My parents are free tonight, and they said they want to go over to the new condo and see Willa. An official meet-the-parents dinner."

Hearing this, Katrina jumped to her feet. "Tonight?"

"Yeah, their schedules suddenly opened up. They just called to tell me."

"Okay, I'll call my mom right now to give her a heads-up. I'll head back immediately."

"Just stay there. I'll come pick you up, and we'll head over together."

Katrina asked, "Aren't you going to pick up Dr. Wilson and Professor Penn?"

"No need. I already sent a driver for them."

"Alright, text me when you're close, and I'll head down."

After hanging up, Ivy sighed dramatically. "See? Look how completely devoted he is to you. He sends a driver for his own parents so he can come pick you up personally."
