After finishing his call with Colton, Darin stepped out of his car and walked into the hospital, taking the elevator upstairs. As he approached the hospital room, he saw Tatiana standing in the hallway, speaking on the phone with Brandon. Darin stopped in his tracks and watched her.
After ending her call, Tatiana turned to look at him. Her demeanor was cordial. "Darin, is there something you need?"
Darin's expression remained icy. "Mrs. Hawthorne, I would like to speak with you about Felicia."
Tatiana froze for a moment. She remembered Anne mentioning before that she had two uncles. Tatiana had never cared about the Ross family's dynamics or who Felicia's brothers were, until Anne specifically named Darin as her uncle. That revelation had left her both shocked and confused. How had Darin become Felicia's brother? She had intended to contact Yvonne to figure out what was going on, but before she could, news of Max's accident arrived.
"What do you want to say?"
Darin's voice was low and cold. "You really went to extraordinary lengths to drive Felicia away. I wonder if you did all this for Anne, for Max, or simply for yourself?"
Tatiana's face instantly drained of color.
Darin continued relentlessly. "If Anne finds out that her own grandmother forcibly drove her mother away, how do you expect her to look at you? Are you just going to ignore her emotional needs and force her to accept it? And what kind of girl are you hoping to match Max with anyway? Someone who obeys your every command and waits on you hand and foot? Someone Max is not allowed to treat too well?"
His tone was perfectly calm, yet every word was a barbed needle, stripping away all of Tatiana's refined dignity. Her complexion grew increasingly ugly.
"Darin, is this how you speak to your elders?"
