The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback novel Chapter 889

The trio stepped out of the hotel lobby. Tatiana was waiting inside her car. Watching the three of them emerge looking like a perfect family, her expression instantly darkened. The driver hurried to open the door, and she stepped out onto the pavement.

"Grandma!" Anne called out the moment she saw her.

Tatiana quickly masked her displeasure. By the time she looked down at Anne, her eyes were filled with nothing but affectionate warmth.

Max led Anne forward as a bodyguard stepped up to take the large bag of stuffed animals from his hand.

"When does your flight leave?" Tatiana asked.

"I need to head out soon," Max replied. He then gave her a few brief instructions regarding Anne's care.

Mindful of the child's presence, Tatiana held her tongue and refrained from starting an argument.

Felicia stood a short distance behind Max, waiting patiently until they finished their conversation.

"Mommy!" Anne called out.

Felicia stepped forward to give her daughter a proper goodbye.

Turning back to Max, Anne gave him one final reminder. "Daddy, you have to come back as quickly as you can so you can have the wedding with Mommy, okay?"

"Max, what on earth is this nonsense about you and Felicia having a wedding?" she demanded the second he answered. "How could you make such a massive decision without consulting your father and me first? After the terrible attitude she has shown, you still want to marry her? Has she completely bewitched you? Did you somehow miss the fact that she has been running around with other men, hopelessly entangled in scandalous affairs? She is publicly humilating you and dragging the Hawthorne family name through the mud. What right does she have to be Anne's mother? If she cared about that child even a fraction of an inch, she would never have paraded around with another man. Are you truly this foolish, Max, or are you just playing blind? Even your grandma will absolutely refuse to bless this wedding."

Tatiana's voice trembled with agitation as she fired off question after question. Her chest heaved violently, her anger so intense she could barely catch her breath. The more she thought about Felicia, the more her disgust grew until it morphed into pure hatred. Recalling the videos of Felicia laughing and strolling through the streets on a date with another man made her want to slap the woman across the face. How had her son ever gotten tangled up with someone like that? The very idea of accepting such a shameless woman into her family felt like a personal humiliation.

Max listened to his mother's tirade in complete silence. He waited until she had vented all her fury before calmly speaking. "Mom, do not say anything reckless to Anne right now. Wait until I get back. I will sit down with you, Dad, and Grandma to discuss this properly."

He used the word discuss, but it was clear his decision was already finalized.

Tatiana gripped her phone tightly, her stance uncompromising. "Max, you have always insisted on making your own decisions and doing things your way, and I have always respected that. But this time, I do not care what you say. I will absolutely never allow you to marry Felicia."
