The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback novel Chapter 882

"Take your time," Max advised.

Felicia ignored him.

Seeing her focused entirely on her food, he suddenly reached out and wrapped an arm around her waist.

Felicia paused mid-bite as his deep voice murmured near her ear. "I couldn't control my strength last night. After all, it has been over half a month since the last time."

Her grip on her chopsticks faltered. She wanted to snap back, but ultimately chose silence.

Once she finished eating, Felicia stood up to go change. But as soon as she took a step, she froze, her brows knitting together in discomfort.

Max caught her reaction, extended his long arm, and pulled her gently back into her seat. "There is no rush. Sit and rest for a bit. Someone will bring medicine up shortly."

Felicia shot him an indignant glare.

Max just smirked.

Just then, the doorbell rang.

Max got up and answered it.

The professional butler stood outside, his expression completely neutral, respectfully handing over a small tube of ointment with both hands.

Max took it, closed the door, and returned to the dining area. He scooped Felicia up and carried her back to the bedroom. "Do you want to do it, or should I?"

Felicia snatched the ointment from him. "I will do it myself. Get out."

Max watched her, his lips curving upward. "Rest for a while, then. I will go pick Anne up. We will just stay in today."

He turned and left the room. After changing clothes and freshening up, he headed out.

At the hospital, the doctor had just finished examining Anne. She was cleared to be discharged and rest at home.

"Daddy, where is Mommy?" Anne asked.

"Mommy!" Anne bounded over to her.

Felicia reached out, lifted her into her lap, and looked up at Max. "How were the test results today? Does she need to stay hospitalized?"

"Nothing major. She doesn't need to stay. My mother will pick her up tomorrow morning to head back to the Capital," Max explained.

Felicia's arms tightened around her daughter. She nodded slightly, then looked down at Anne, gently squeezing her small hand. "Next time you don't feel well, you have to tell Mommy, understand? If I can't reach you, I will be so worried."

Anne nodded obediently. "I am sorry, Mommy."

A surge of heartache washed over Felicia. "You didn't do anything wrong, sweetheart. Don't apologize to Mommy. Promise me you won't apologize for this ever again, okay?"

"I promise, Mommy," Anne chirped.

Max sat down beside Felicia and addressed Anne. "We won't go out to play today. Daddy and Mommy will just stay here with you."

Anne nodded eagerly and snuggled into her mother's embrace. "As long as I am with Daddy and Mommy, anywhere is fine." She tilted her head back to look at her mother adoringly.
