Felicia gently squeezed her friend's hand. "You do not have to overthink it. Just treat him like a complete stranger."
Savannah nodded silently.
The dinner location Darin had booked was an exclusive private kitchen situated right along the river, boasting gorgeous waterfront views. After they settled into the private room and ordered their meals, Jeremy and Darin leaned near the window, casually discussing business matters.
Felicia and Savannah sat quietly at the table. Listening to the two men converse, Felicia could easily piece together the truth: in the ongoing corporate warfare against the Curtis family, Darin was currently emerging as the undisputed victor. That explained why he suddenly had so much leisure time on his hands.
After finishing their meal, Savannah followed Felicia back to her apartment while Jeremy checked into a nearby hotel.
Later that night, Darin sat in his study handling work. After wrapping up an overseas conference call, he set his phone down, opened his messaging app, and checked his chat history with Max. The conversation screen was still completely devoid of any response.
After waiting a moment longer, Darin typed out a new message: What are you so busy with?
Half an hour later, Max finally replied: Caring for your sister.
Darin stared at the screen, utterly speechless. He knew he never should have provoked that arrogant bastard.
When the weekend arrived, Felicia planned to take Jeremy and Savannah on a tour of the surrounding areas. Since they had traveled all the way to Cloudville, it was only right to show them a good time. Unfortunately, Savannah woke up feeling entirely under the weather and had no choice but to stay behind and rest.
"You and Jeremy go ahead without me," Savannah insisted weakly. "Just remember to bring me back some good food."
"Alright, if you are sure," Felicia agreed. "Get plenty of rest."
Although the staff had not explicitly asked about their relationship status, their natural chemistry made it an easy assumption.
Felicia froze slightly at the blessing. Jeremy immediately stepped in to clarify.
"I apologize, but we are not in that kind of relationship," Jeremy explained gently.
The staff member looked surprised. Jeremy did not offer any further elaboration, simply turning to Felicia. "Let’s go."
They walked away together, leaving the bewildered staff standing in the street. The cameraman lowered his equipment and muttered, "Well, if they are not a couple yet, they will be soon. The guy is definitely still pursuing her."
The interviewer snapped out of her daze and nodded in strong agreement. She could only sigh in admiration, realizing that even incredibly handsome, high quality men had to put in the effort to court the women they liked.
