The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback novel Chapter 870

Felicia slowly lowered her hand, her gaze shifting up to the nanny. "Did he say what he wants?"

"I am not sure," the nanny replied honestly.

"Tell him that if he does not have anything important to say, he can leave," Felicia instructed coldly.

"Understood," the nanny said, bowing her head before heading downstairs to relay the exact message to Darin.

Darin simply smiled. "Then could you do me a favor and ask her if she enjoyed the roast beef from lunch today?"

The nanny froze, clearly sensing that the relationship between this brother and sister was far from warm. She had no idea why he had waited until nighttime to ask about the taste of their lunch. Reluctantly, she trudged back upstairs to deliver the bizarre question.

Hearing the nanny's words, Felicia rubbed her temples, completely baffled by Darin's behavior. It was incredibly obvious that he was just bored and had absolutely nothing of value to discuss. She refused to dignify it with an answer.

"Just tell him to go home," Felicia sighed.

The nanny went all the way back down. "Mr. Foxhall, she asks that you please leave."

Darin did not look surprised in the slightest. He maintained his gentle demeanor. "Then could you trouble yourself to ask her one more thing? How is her mood today?"

The nanny could not help but offer some genuine advice. "Mr. Foxhall, why don't you just call her yourself?"

Darin just smiled wider. "I am really sorry for the trouble."

Left with no other choice, the exhausted nanny climbed the stairs for a third time. "Mr. Foxhall wants to know how your mood is today."

Felicia stared at her in exasperation. She realized that if she did not let him in, he was entirely prepared to keep playing this game all night.

"Just go and close the door," Felicia commanded.

"Right away."

When the nanny came back down without an invitation, Darin remained well behaved. Even though the door was still open, he did not take a single step inside without permission. He opened his mouth to say something else, but the nanny cut him off.

"I am so sorry, Mr. Foxhall," she said politely, immediately shutting the heavy wooden door in his face.

Darin stood in the hallway, staring at the closed door. He let out a helpless chuckle, turned around, and walked back to his own apartment.

"Are you not even going to ask how my work is going?" Max interjected quickly.

Felicia paused, her voice remaining perfectly steady. "I asked you before. Is your work really going to change just because I ask?"

Max chuckled softly. "If I am in a good mood, my work efficiency will definitely be higher."

"If you are that easily influenced by others, then I strongly suggest you take some time to calm yourself down," Felicia shot back.

"You make a fair point," Max agreed effortlessly. "In that case, you should take the initiative to call me and chat more often."

Felicia's eyes darkened slightly. "I do not have that kind of free time in my day."

"Then I will call you," Max laughed. "All you have to do is answer."

Felicia was utterly speechless.

Sometime after that, Max took it upon himself to create a small group chat consisting of himself, Felicia, and Anne. Anne already contacted Felicia every single night, but over the next two days, the little girl started dragging her father into the nightly video calls as well.
