The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback novel Chapter 761

Jeremy stood and walked to her side, gazing down at the street below. The rain showed no signs of stopping, and the dark clouds rumbled with occasional thunder.

After a brief silence, Jeremy spoke. "Take a couple of days to pack and head to Cloudville first. You can hand over any pending work to Savannah."

Felicia murmured in agreement.

About fifteen minutes later, Savannah arrived at Jeremy's office. "We sent her to the hospital," she reported. "Given Mrs. Steele's state, I do not know if she can hold on."

"Let us all get back to work for now," Jeremy said.

Savannah and Felicia nodded and left the room.

Meanwhile, inside the CEO's office at BlueMarble Investments, Isaac knocked and entered to give his report.

Barnaby had confidently signed the gambling agreement, only for them to discover he was backed by foreign capital. If Max had not sniffed out the trap early, Barnaby might have actually succeeded.

"Ms. Ross paid all of Barnaby's medical bills and gave his wife a sum of money," Isaac continued. "This morning, Mrs. Steele went to Roen Capital and knelt outside begging for mercy. She has since been taken to the hospital."

He did not know whether to call Felicia kind hearted or hopelessly naive.

Being a good person required basic situational awareness.

She was an elite professional who had shadowed Max five years ago. Did she still not grasp the cruel reality of their industry? When their rivals tried to take a bite out of BlueMarble, they never showed an ounce of mercy. It was a winner-takes-all world. If you failed, you paid the price.

As Max's wife, she should be standing by his side, yet she was sympathizing with the enemy. Isaac truly did not know what to make of her.

If she actually came crawling to Max to beg for mercy, then regardless of her being their daughter's mother, she was entirely unfit to stand beside him. Keeping her around would only be a liability.

Max listened to Isaac's report in silence, his handsome face betraying no emotion. "Keep an eye on the situation," he ordered simply.

"Understood."
