The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback novel Chapter 730

Felicia fell silent for a brief moment before speaking in a serious tone. "Caroline, I am going to be completely honest with you. I reviewed GeoSmart's proposals and the company's internal situation. In the long run, winning the project from BlueMarble Investments will not solve GeoSmart's current crisis. It might even trigger cash flow issues down the line. If you are willing to trust me, I can draft a comprehensive business plan for GeoSmart free of charge. I promise you it will be far more effective than trying to secure that BlueMarble project."

In the past, whenever she had drafted business plans for corporate clients, her consulting fees had always started in the seven figures.

Hearing the absolute sincerity in Felicia's voice, Caroline understood the gravity of the offer. Even though she knew very little about corporate management, she was well aware that there were countless firms with better qualifications than GeoSmart.

Ultimately, her relationship with Felicia was not exactly deep or profound. The fact that Felicia had not outright rejected her initial request had been enough of a comfort.

"Of course I trust you, Felicia. Please let me know when you have some free time, and we can discuss the details at GeoSmart’s office."

"I will check my work schedule and let you know in advance."

"Sounds perfect."

Caroline knew better than to keep taking up a sick person's time.

"Get lots of rest, Felicia."

"Yeah."

Across town, Max had just wrapped up his business dinner. He slid into the backseat of his car, leaned against the plush leather, and closed his eyes to rest.

Anne's call broke the silence. "Daddy, when are you coming home?"

The dinner was originally supposed to run for another half hour, but because Anne had practically ordered him to come home and take care of her mother, Max had cut the evening short.

"I’m all done with work. On my way back right now."

"Okay."

He ended the call. Just as he was about to set his phone aside, a message notification chimed. He lifted the screen and saw two photos sent from an unknown number.

The moment he saw the images, his expression darkened drastically.

The driver instantly sensed the terrifying drop in temperature within the cabin. He kept his hands steady on the steering wheel and carefully peeked at the man through the rearview mirror.

One look was all it took. The driver immediately lowered his gaze and focused intently on the road ahead.

By the time she processed the sheer hostility in his gaze, Max had already taken Anne down the hall, and the bedroom door clicked shut.

Felicia stared blankly at the closed door. What on earth was the meaning behind that look?

She casually withdrew her gaze. He had always been like this anyway, throwing a silent tantrum the moment something did not go his way. She could not be bothered to analyze it.

After coaxing Anne to sleep, Max retreated to his study.

The entire study was engulfed in a suffocating, deathly silence.

The tall, imposing man stood hidden in the dim lighting. His expression was completely obscured by the shadows, but his body radiated an icy, unapproachable aura.

A few minutes passed before a soft knock sounded at the study door.

Olisha pushed the door open and stepped inside. The young woman had just stepped out of the shower. She was wearing a dangerously thin nightgown that exposed her slender, pale calves.

"Mr... Mr. Hawthorne," she called out, her voice timid and overly delicate.
