The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback novel Chapter 724

After saying his piece, Jeremy simply hung up the phone.

Max lowered the phone. His gaze fell upon the screen. Felicia's wallpaper was a photo taken of Anne during her birthday at the island estate in Australia.

He dropped his hand, turned around, and walked back into the room. Placing her phone on the nightstand, he picked up the thermometer to check her temperature again.

The fever had already gone down.

It wasn't until noon that Felicia finally opened her eyes, though her head was still spinning terribly.

"You are awake," the man's voice called out.

Felicia turned her head to look at Max sitting nearby, then silently looked away.

Max had someone bring a light lunch upstairs.

"Get up and eat something first."

Felicia saw no reason to gamble with her own health. She pushed herself up, and Max grabbed a pillow, placing it gently behind her back for support.

Then he handed her a bowl of warm chicken soup.

Felicia finished the soup and ate a little bit of the other food while Max stayed by her side, attending to her.

"I do not want anymore," she said. She really had no appetite right now.

"Eat this bowl of warm custard," Max insisted.

Felicia glanced at the warm custard he offered. She stayed silent for a moment before reaching out to take it, finishing the whole bowl.

Max watched her finish, then took the empty bowl from her hands. "Take your medicine in half an hour. I have some business to attend to at the office. You just stay home and rest well today."

Felicia listened to the man's instructions without offering a response.

Max did not say anything else. He called someone in to clear the dishes and then left the room.

Colt suddenly called. There was an interview scheduled for today, originally assigned to the deputy editor, but the interviewee had suddenly changed their mind and requested to speak specifically with her.

Colt had no other choice but to contact Felicia. Now fully aware that she was Max's wife, his attitude was incredibly respectful, practically bordering on begging.

Faced with Colt's sudden shift in attitude, Felicia felt deeply uncomfortable.

"Colt, you do not need to act like this. I might be a little late, so please send me the interview materials first. I will review them on the way."

"Alright."

After hanging up, Felicia quickly received the documents.

She stood up and went into the closet to change into a formal business suit. As she finished dressing and styling her hair, the reflection in the mirror showed a face that was still pale, with eyes that lacked their usual spark.

When she was finally ready to leave, Olisha was heading upstairs with a plate of pastries. Seeing her heading out, Olisha looked concerned. "Evelynn, you are not fully recovered yet. Are you really going to work?"
