Darin's eyes darkened.
Max softened his voice and continued. "I know you are angry right now. You want her to live a happy life. But as things stand, even if we were to get a divorce, it does not guarantee her happiness. Matters of marriage and emotion are not simple math problems that can be easily solved."
Darin remained completely silent.
After a long while, he finally spoke. "You are truly too arrogant. I just hope the day never comes when you regret this."
Over the next two days, Max went on a business trip to a neighboring city.
Felicia focused on managing various work handovers. As for the issue with Olisha, she did not bother investigating any further. If something was wrong, or if Olisha had hidden motives, Max would certainly realize it before she did. She did not want to waste her energy on it.
By now, Max had tacitly accepted Olisha's presence at Oakridge Estate. Felicia could not figure out what he was planning, and she could not be bothered to care.
Olisha fully embraced the humble role of a servant to the household.
She woke up early every day to prepare breakfast for Felicia and Anne. Her skills in making pastries were phenomenal, and Anne absolutely adored the treats she baked.
Her flower arranging skills were equally exquisite, especially a little pink bear she crafted entirely out of pink roses. Anne was amazed. "Wow, you are so talented."
Not only that, but whether it was painting or playing the piano, Olisha maintained an exceptionally high standard in everything she did.
She did not act like a wealthy heiress at all. Instead, she seemed like a carefully cultivated tool designed to serve elite men, a delicate clinging vine that could only survive by attaching itself to a host. Every word and action was laced with an eagerness to please, terrified of making even the slightest mistake.
With her appearance, temperament, and figure, she was the ultimate dream for countless men.
Being allowed to stay and have tasks to do seemed to make Olisha incredibly happy. Her entire demeanor screamed, I am not here to ruin your family, I am just here to join you.
Looking into Olisha's beautiful, clear amber eyes, Felicia could not muster any disgust toward her. Instead, she simply felt a profound pity.
Such a beautiful, wonderful girl deserved someone who would truly love and cherish her.
But in Olisha's worldview, perhaps her only purpose was to serve a man well.
That evening, Felicia returned to Oakridge Estate.
"Mommy, you are back! Look at the little bear cake I made."
Anne proudly presented her cake to Felicia. The little apron she wore was covered in flour and cream stains.
Felicia crouched down and gently wiped her daughter's small face. "You did such a wonderful job."
Anne giggled brightly. "It tastes really good too! Mommy, hurry and try some."
Felicia reached out and took the plate. "It looks so beautiful, I almost cannot bear to eat it."
Anne shook her head. "If you do not eat it, it will go bad."
Olisha turned and left the dining room.
Anne stayed to keep her mother company.
That night, Felicia stayed up quite late.
It was not until midnight that a Rolls Royce slowly pulled into the underground garage.
Felicia had not fallen asleep yet.
Suddenly, the sound of the bedroom door opening echoed in the quiet room. She kept her eyes closed, but she could feel the intense gaze of the person standing at the door.
A moment later, the door clicked shut again.
The next morning, before seven o'clock, Felicia was already dressed and heading out.
As she reached the ground floor, she spoke briefly to the nanny who took care of Anne. The nanny nodded in agreement, then suddenly glanced toward the top of the stairs.
Noticing the shift in the nanny's gaze, Felicia turned around and saw the man descending the stairs. Their eyes met for a brief second before she looked away, striding purposefully toward the underground garage.
Max stood frozen on the steps, his dark eyes fixed intensely on the woman's retreating back.
