The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback novel Chapter 698

Max stood up and walked over to Felicia with steady steps. His gaze bypassed Jeremy entirely and landed solely on her. "Let's go. It is time to head back."

As he spoke, he reached out and naturally took the woman's hand, holding it firmly in his large palm. Then, he glanced sideways at Jeremy. "Mr. Milman, see you later."

For a brief moment, the air in the room seemed to freeze as their eyes met.

Max led Felicia out of the hall and they got into the car.

The vehicle slowly drove away, soon merging into the main road.

Max held the steering wheel. He kept his eyes on the road ahead and asked, "What are your plans?"

Felicia answered calmly, "I have no plans to leave."

Hearing this, Max's handsome face showed no trace of emotion. His tone was perfectly flat. "Since you want to stay, then stay."

Listening to his indifferent tone, Felicia remained silent and did not reply. She had no intention of telling him about her future arrangements.

Darin wanted to collaborate with Roen Capital. The partnership would be conducted in secret and kept entirely out of the public eye. However, given Max's shrewdness, it was impossible for him not to notice. Yet, for now, he seemed to be making no moves.

What was the real reason Darin had gone behind Max's back to seek out Jeremy for a partnership?

Had a rift formed between the two of them?

Even if that were true, given their history, they would not fall out so easily.

She simply could not figure it out at the moment.

Jeremy certainly knew what he was doing, so she felt no need to overthink the matter.

By the time they returned to Oakridge Estate, it was almost ten o'clock.

Max went straight to the study.

Anne was sleeping in the master bedroom tonight. Felicia moved softly and opened the door. Warm light bathed the bedroom, and Anne's tiny body lay peacefully in the center of the large bed.

She walked over. Anne’s sweet, soft appearance made her heart melt.

Felicia sat on the edge of the bed and watched her daughter for a while. She tucked the covers around the little girl, then got up and went to the dressing room to grab clean pajamas.

As Felicia's consciousness slowly returned, she opened her eyes to see Anne's soft, chubby little face. Behind her, the space was empty. Max had gotten up at some unknown hour.

It was not until seven thirty in the morning that Anne woke up right on time.

"Baby, you are awake."

Anne yawned and called out softly. "Mommy."

"It is time to get up."

Anne reached out her little arms, whining for a hug.

Felicia picked Anne up, supporting her little bottom with both hands while Anne leaned lazily against her mother's shoulder.

After holding her for a while, Felicia helped Anne wash up and get dressed. Then, she took her daughter's hand and led her downstairs.

In the living room downstairs, Max was leaning back on the sofa, flipping through the morning newspaper.

At the same time, Felicia noticed another figure. A young woman in a long blue dress and an apron stood there, her long hair half tied up. She carried a cup of coffee over to Max and offered it to him with both hands. "Mr. Hawthorne, please try the coffee I made."
