The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback novel Chapter 652

It was just after six in the evening. Felicia and Max were having dinner together at a Spanish place, sitting across from each other under warm, golden lights.

Halfway through their meal, Max’s phone rang.

Felicia noticed right away that something had shifted in his expression—his jaw tensed, his eyes distant. She pretended to focus on her food, pretending not to notice. Quietly, she ate, waiting for him to finish.

Max ended the call, looked over at her, but didn’t say a word.

After they finished eating, Max paid the bill.

“I have something I need to handle,” he said. “You should go back to the hotel and get some rest.”

Felicia didn’t protest or press him for details. She just stepped outside, and flagged down a taxi to head back on her own.

Monday morning came, cloudy and cool. When Felicia arrived at the office lobby, she bumped into Jeremy. He greeted her with that relaxed, easy smile of his. After the previous night’s banquet, he headed straight to the Milman family house.

“Good morning.”

Jeremy gave a small laugh. “Morning, Felicia. Did you recover after a day off?”

She lifted her lips in a soft smile. “I feel great. Couldn’t be better.”

The workload didn’t faze her at all, and the extra day to recharge meant she was ready for whatever came next.

They walked into the building together. Neither of them mentioned the Curtis family’s banquet, and Felicia was perfectly fine with that. The Curtis family, their drama, all of it had nothing to do with her.

For the next few days, Felicia lost herself in work. She barely noticed what was happening in the outside world. News, gossip, rumors—it all faded into background noise.

Max didn’t call her. He didn’t show up, either.

A few days later, Felicia needed to visit IronGate Industries to check through some numbers.

She packed up her files, reached for her phone, and was ready to head out when her phone buzzed. The message came from an unknown number, a video file.

Her hand closed a little tighter around the phone as she hesitated, but curiosity won out and she pressed play.

The video was shot from inside a car, camera aimed at a hotel entrance. Everything was blurry, the image pixelated and distant. For a second, nothing happened. Then a tall figure walked out of the hotel. Even through the bad resolution, Felicia could recognize his silhouette. It’s Max. That unmistakable profile—the sharp jaw, the height—she never could mistake him.
