“Greg’s busy these days. Honestly, it’s better than her hanging around the house with nothing to do. I’ll be discharged in a couple of days, and if she’s here, I won’t get a moment’s peace.”
Shannon smiled. “You talk about your sister like she’s still a kid.”
She didn’t look the least bit surprised at the mention of Greg. Clearly, she’d heard something already.
Jeremy shrugged. “To me, she’s no different from Yara.”
Shannon laughed. “Then you’d better be ready to take care of her for the rest of your life.”
Jeremy smirked. “Even if I wanted to, I doubt she’d let me.”
Felicia listened quietly as they bantered. With Shannon as their mother, it was no wonder Jeremy and Heather seemed so happy.
“Oh, Felicia, by the way…”
Felicia blinked, coming back to the moment. “Yeah?”
Jeremy said, “I’ve got an overseas document that needs your input. I’ll send it to your email later.”
Felicia nodded. “Sure, just send it over.”
Shannon was still savoring her meal, smiling with every bite. “This is wonderful.”
“I’m glad you like it. You’re always welcome at our place for dinner, whenever you feel like it.”
Shannon’s eyes lit up. “I’d love that.”
After everyone finished eating, Felicia started gathering up the thermal containers. Shannon insisted on washing them first, and Felicia didn’t argue.
Shannon disappeared into the bathroom with the containers.
Felicia turned to Jeremy, lowering her voice. “Did Mr. Murray find anything?”
Jeremy nodded. “It’s Jett. He’s right at the center of this.”
Felicia’s eyes widened. “Jett?”
