The moment Heather spotted Trey, her smile faded instantly.
Trey noticed the shift in her expression, then turned to Greg. They both knew about each other, but this was their first real meeting.
Greg didn’t need an introduction to figure out who Trey was. Luke, standing nearby, eyed Trey with clear suspicion.
Trey was the first to break the silence. “You must be Greg.”
Greg met his gaze with steady calm as Trey took off a black glove and offered his hand. “Nice to meet you. I’m Trey, Heather’s ex-husband.”
Greg shook his hand, keeping his tone neutral. “Are you here to see someone at the hospital?”
“I heard Mr. Milman was hurt,” Trey replied. “I came to check on him.”
Word of the accident at Roen Capital’s gala had already gotten around the industry.
Heather spoke up, her voice tight. “My brother doesn’t need visitors. You can leave now.”
Trey glanced at her, not bothered by her coldness. “Is your brother okay?”
“He’s fine,” Heather answered quickly.
Trey nodded. “That’s good to hear.”
Heather clearly had no interest in talking to him. She said a quick goodbye to Greg and Luke, then walked off toward the elevators.
After she left, Greg turned to Luke. “Let’s get going.”
They were almost at the exit when Trey called out, “Greg.”
Greg paused and looked back. “Do you need something?”
Trey smiled, but there was something unreadable behind it. “Someone like you deserves better options.”
“My life isn’t your business.”
Greg and Luke left the hospital and got into Greg’s car. Luke was riding with him that day.
