The old principal just smiled at them. “Alright, you two go ahead.”
Felicia said her goodbyes to the principal and the other staff, then left with Luke. It was obvious to everyone that Felicia was ignoring Max on purpose. They couldn’t tell if she was just too proud for her own good, or if she actually had the guts to stand her ground. What was really strange, though, was that Max didn’t look upset at all. If anything, he seemed to let her get away with it.
As Felicia and Luke walked off, the principal glanced at Max, looking a bit confused. “Are Luke and Felicia about to get married or something?” He honestly couldn’t think of any other reason why Felicia would be so bold with Max.
Max gave a small smile. “I heard Ms. Ross is married, but not to Luke. They’re just friends.” The principal’s eyes went wide in shock.
Felicia and Luke headed over to the school museum. “You know, you’re the only one who dares to talk to him like that,” Luke said with a low laugh. “Anyone else would probably be getting ready for their bankruptcy papers tomorrow.”
Felicia just smiled. “Then I guess that’s my privilege.” Luke laughed, and quickly changed the subject.
They told the director they wanted to look around by themselves. After all these years, the school hadn’t changed much, except for a few new buildings here and there. They wandered into their old classroom. The building was quiet, since most of the students were off at activities. Leaning by a window in the hallway, they started reminiscing, realizing how good those student days really were now that they’d both stepped into the real world.
