Inside the Highfield Manor villa, Yvonne picked up the phone when her husband, Hank, called. He already knew everything she’d done, but he wasn’t calling to scold her. He understood she was only thinking about the Curtis family.
Andrea had cried all night. The only person she could trust now was her mother, so she told Yvonne the whole truth. Yvonne hadn’t slept a wink. Darin hadn’t come home either, and he wasn’t answering her calls.
“So, Evelynn is the woman who married Max all those years ago?” Hank’s voice was heavy.
“Yes,” Yvonne said, sounding exhausted.
Hank’s tone grew even more serious. Max and Darin had always been close, but if Max had married Andrea, he would have been tied to the Curtis family. Maybe it wouldn’t bring the family any immediate benefits, but it would at least give them some leverage with Darin. That’s why Hank never really said anything against Andrea insisting on marrying Max, especially when Max genuinely seemed to care about her.
But looking at things now, it was clear Max had no plans to leave his wife for Andrea.
A wave of frustration rose in Hank’s chest.
“There’s no way Andrea could have done all this alone.”
“It was Trey. He reached out to her,” Yvonne replied.
“Trey? How does Andrea even know him?” Hank wasn’t surprised by the name. The Curtis and McCoy families did business overseas, and he knew the McCoys had twin sons, both impressive in their own right, especially the older one, Holden. He’d never heard of Holden being married or anything like that.
Andrea had already told Yvonne everything about running into Holden in the US, the falling out between Holden and Max, and Felicia’s part in it all. Yvonne quickly explained it to Hank.
“I heard Holden took quite a hit recently,” Hank said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if Max had something to do with it.”
Yvonne frowned, her instincts telling her Felicia probably played a role too.
