Felicia asked, "Are you and Ivy close?"
"Not really," Max replied. "But why are you suddenly asking about her?"
"No particular reason," Felicia said.
Max didn't press the issue. Instead, he changed the subject. "The son of a business partner is getting married this weekend. We should attend the wedding and soak up some of that joyous atmosphere."
Felicia was just taking a sip of water. She slowly set her glass down and offered a soft sound of agreement. In truth, she was quite puzzled. Anne was already so grown up, yet Felicia hadn't seen a single wedding photo of herself and Max at Oakridge Estate. They must have never had a wedding ceremony. She hadn't brought it up with Max, but when she asked Ava back home, Ava merely mentioned that the circumstances around getting their marriage certificate were rather unique. Felicia could guess the reality. Max probably hadn't loved her back then.
Of course, dwelling on the past was meaningless now. It was an undeniable fact that she was carrying his child. Once the baby was born and she could resume her treatments to recover her memories, everything would naturally come to light.
Max's dark eyes studied her profile. He suddenly reached out and covered the back of her hand with his own.
Felicia turned to look at him.
"It will be a good opportunity for us to take notes," Max said softly.
Felicia paused for a moment before catching his underlying meaning. She decided not to ask any further questions.
The server arrived with their dinner.
"Eat up," Max urged, picking up his chopsticks to place a choice piece of meat onto her plate.
Halfway through the meal, Felicia wanted to use the restroom. Max immediately offered to accompany her.
Felicia gave him a flat look. "I am just going to the restroom. Why do you need to follow me? It is not like I am going to run away halfway there."
"What if you actually do?" Max countered smoothly.
