With those parting words, Jeffrey turns and walks back inside. Max narrows his dark eyes at the retreating figure before turning to get into his car.

Back in the living room, Clarence watches Jeffrey until he takes a seat on the sofa. "Tell me, what exactly is going on?"

"He crossed the line first, so he shouldn't blame me for retaliating," Jeffrey states calmly.

Clarence's expression darkens, and he lets out a weary sigh. "Do not make things ugly with the Hawthorne family."

Comparing the current state of their family to the Hawthornes and the Gilberts always brings Clarence a profound sense of sorrow.
