The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback novel Chapter 1120

"I can walk perfectly fine on my own," Felicia snapped coldly. She shot Jeffrey one last venomous glare before standing up and marching toward the door.

Just as she was escorted out, Jeffrey's assistant strode into the room, holding out a vibrating phone. "Sir, it is Mr. Hawthorne calling."

Jeffrey took the device, accepted the call, and brought it to his ear. "Hello," he answered, his tone smooth and unruffled.

"Jeffrey, you had better return her to me before tonight," Max growled through the speaker.

Jeffrey chuckled lightly. "Of course. You give me my person, and I will give you yours."

"It seems you really are infatuated with her," Max spat.

"I simply have no reason to let someone else keep what belongs to me," Jeffrey replied coolly.

Max's voice dropped to a lethal, icy register. "If she is harmed, do not expect me to show you any mercy."

Jeffrey tapped his fingers rhythmically against the armrest of his chair. "How deeply ironic. The woman you once despised so completely has now become the very weakness I can use against you."

His smirk deepened as he continued. "Do not worry. I guarantee she is perfectly safe. I merely invited her over as a guest. Whenever she decides she wants to leave, I will naturally let her go."

Max gripped his phone so tightly his knuckles turned white. "What is that supposed to mean?"

Jeffrey did not bother answering. He ended the call and handed the phone back to his assistant.

Meanwhile, back at the Ross estate, Ava was growing frantic. She had been waiting for Felicia to arrive, but her calls were going straight to voicemail. Pacing with anxiety, she contacted Darin and asked him to call Max. That was how Darin discovered that Jeffrey had intercepted Felicia on her way home.
