The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback novel Chapter 1073

It was a blatantly shameless remark. Felicia's face flushed bright red as she glared at him. "Max, do you have any shame left at all?"

The smirk on Max's lips deepened. "Can shame satisfy my appetite?"

Felicia continued to glare at him. "Go satisfy your appetite yourself for all I care."

Max chuckled, deciding to change the subject. "I was dealing with some business nearby around noon. Once I finished, I figured I would drop by to see you. Are you home alone today?"

Felicia looked away, turning her back to him as she hastily fastened her buttons. She reached back to grab a pillow to prop herself up, but Max, still holding the one she threw, leaned forward to arrange it behind her back. Felicia glanced up as he leaned in close. She immediately caught the scent of alcohol clinging to him. A sudden wave of nausea hit her, and she frowned deeply. "You smell like alcohol. Back away from me."

Max noticed the sudden change in her complexion. "You can't tolerate the smell of alcohol right now?"

"Just get off the bed," she urged.

Max stared at her intensely with his dark eyes. Felicia couldn’t meet his gaze. Without asking any further questions, he stood up, grabbed a chair from the balcony, and brought it over. He sat down, spreading his long legs casually, and leaned back. "Did Jeffrey come looking for you today?"

Hearing this, Felicia realized Luke must have informed him, which explained his sudden visit.

"Yes, he told me to pass a message to Luke. He wants Willa sent back to the Capital as soon as her eyes recover. I don't know what he's plotting, so I just gave Luke a heads-up," she explained.

"And yet you didn't call me first," Max noted.

Felicia looked at him in disbelief. "Why would I call you? What would I even say?"

"Do you honestly think he came to you just so you could warn Luke?" Max countered.

Felicia frowned. She remembered the final warning Jeffrey had left her with, which was clearly aimed at telling Max to mind his own business.

"You were the one who told me not to meddle in other people's affairs before, yet here you are, sticking your nose in," she retorted.
