The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback novel Chapter 1067

Max narrowed his dark eyes as Darin's gaze swept over him. "Don't you think you're acting incredibly childish right now?" Darin asked.

Max had never truly been in a proper relationship. He had never genuinely given his heart to anyone. Whenever he wanted, there was an endless supply of beautiful, high-quality women for him to choose from. Their admiration and affection were things he could obtain effortlessly. Naturally, things easily obtained were rarely cherished. A man who had always been completely selfish would never learn or know how to treasure someone.

Max let out a scoff and tossed his phone over to the other man. "You make it sound like you are so much better at this." He shifted and leaned back against the sofa. "I don't need your pity. Go enjoy your dinner party."

Darin looked at the man's somber, cold profile. He stayed silent for a moment before standing up. "If that's how it is, I'll be leaving."

He strode toward the door. Max stared darkly at his retreating back with no intention of asking him to stay. Darin did not linger either. He walked out the door, reached the parking lot, and got into his car.

Max remained leaning against the sofa. He ordered some takeout, though he had completely lost his appetite. Scrolling through his phone, he noticed Darin's social media feed. There was only one photo, showcasing a lavish spread of gourmet food. Naturally, this post had been made visible solely to Max. He tapped on the photo to enlarge it. Aside from the food on the table, there was not much else to glean, but compared to his sad takeout, it looked like a feast. Closing the app, he snapped a picture of his own meal, opened his chat with Felicia, and sent it directly to her.

Meanwhile, Felicia was sitting in a chair, eating a slice of cake and chatting with Heather. Suddenly, the phone resting on the table lit up. She glanced at it, her eyes darkening slightly. When she unlocked her screen, she saw the photo Max had just sent. It was a simple boxed meal. Judging by the background, he was still waiting there and had not left.

Jeremy placed a freshly grilled lobster tail in front of her. "What are you looking at?"

Felicia snapped back to reality and set her phone down. "It's nothing."

Jeremy did not press the issue. "Give this a try."

"Thank you," she murmured.
