It was a call from Darin. His primary reason for calling was to discuss business matters. As for what was going on between Max and Felicia, he had no intention of asking further, knowing there was nothing more he could do.
Just yesterday, he had asked his father about Felicia's current situation and finally learned about her pregnancy. No wonder she looked like she had lost weight again. Last night, he had truly wanted to storm over to Max and beat him to a pulp. But since Felicia hadn't planned on telling Max, he could only respect her wishes.
Now, as he spoke with Max, Darin had to act as though he knew nothing. However, Max could clearly sense that something was off with Darin's attitude. Every word Darin spoke carried a barbed hostility.
"What exactly is your problem today?" Max asked, frowning.
"If I actually had a problem, do you really think I'd be talking to you this nicely?" Darin retorted.
"If you have something to say, just say it. Stop beating around the bush," Max demanded.
"That's all." Darin didn't want to waste another word on him and hung up directly.
Listening to the dial tone, Max's expression instantly darkened. He looked visibly irritated. Suddenly, he picked up his phone, tapped Felicia's contact, and hit dial. But after only two seconds of ringing, he abruptly ended the call and tossed his phone aside.
Back at home, Felicia let Ava know her plans. Right now, she was treated with the delicacy of a rare artifact in the house. Ava didn't try to stop her. Attending an academic lecture to learn a few things was harmless, and more importantly, Felicia had been looking much healthier lately.
