Jeremy did not overstay his welcome. When the evening grew late, Felicia walked him out. As they stepped past the front gates, she casually glanced down the street. The Rolls-Royce that had been idling in the shadows was completely gone, having slipped away unnoticed.

"Drive safe," she told him.

"I will. Get back inside, it is chilly," Jeremy replied affectionately before climbing into his car.

Felicia stood on the pavement, watching his taillights fade into the distance before turning back into the warmth of the house.

The following day brought a slight change of plans. Darin had originally intended to fly straight back to the Capital, but a last-minute detour took him to Northwick instead. As a result, the highly anticipated family dinner had to be postponed once again.

Felicia gave Savannah a quick call to let her know.

"I know," Savannah replied smoothly. "I already checked in with him."

What Savannah strategically decided not to mention was that Darin had taken the detour specifically to escort Andrea back to the Curtis family estate.

Judging by the breezy, confident tone of Savannah's voice, her budding romance with Darin was progressing quite nicely. They chatted aimlessly for a few more minutes before hanging up.

Over the next few days, Felicia stayed safely tucked away at home. She managed to finish the bulk of her remote work handovers, leaving her days completely free. She spent her time reading thick novels and tending to the garden flowers. Unburdened by stress, her body felt lighter and significantly healthier. Her favorite part of the day was always the evening video calls with Anne.

Anne was still struggling deeply with the loss of her great-grandfather. Unlike most children her age, she could not just bounce back and easily let go of her grief. Because her little mind was entirely consumed by sorrow, she remained completely oblivious to the bitter war currently raging between her parents.
