The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 335

Whether the Crystal of Devotion was real or not didn't matter. At least someone was willing to pay for it.

Just that fact alone made Nolan look good. And the most important thing was that they couldn't even argue against it right now.

"Mr. Norwich, this jewel is really beautiful. As the heir to the Norwich family, you must have a keen eye for spotting the real deal, right?" Jeanne asked softly.

However, Blake shook his head with a smile. "I'm no gem expert. How could I tell? If I had the ability, I'd be working at Norwich Jewelers. Haha!"

His response made Jeanne fall silent.

Megan, noticing Blake approaching, gave a smile. "Impressive, Mr. Norwich. 100 million dollars in cash, just like that. I must say, I'm envious."

Blake chuckled. "Oh, don't say that. I still need to raise that money. After all, I'm just a useless son of the Norwich family with no real career. I'm not like you, who works hard for your own money.

"Anyway, what do you want to talk to me about?"

Megan looked at him and asked, "You know Nolan? I thought you just arrived in Bellington not long ago. You wouldn't have known him. But it seems like you two are quite close."

Upon hearing that, Blake immediately understood what Megan was getting at. "Mr. Greene and I just met each other a few days ago. But I have to say, I respect him a lot. It's an honor to know him."

"If you keep playing along with him, you're really doing him a huge favor. But the one paying with real money is you, Mr. Norwich."

She paused, then continued, "Think about it. What if the Norwich family finds out you spent 100 million dollars on a fake? I'm sure some people will have a lot to say about that. Mr. Norwich, I really think you should reconsider.

"After all, you're from the Norwich family. It's not worth carrying the reputation of being someone who can't tell the difference between a fake and a real jewel. Even if you change your mind, Nolan won't dare do anything to you. What do you think?"

Blake looked at Megan for a long moment, then smiled. "Ms. Turner, it seems you have a rather deep misunderstanding of Mr. Greene. Oh, I almost forgot. You two used to be married, didn't you?"
