Nolan immediately spotted Lincoln in the hotel lobby. He stood in front of the banquet hall with a look of irritation on his face, and his once-tall posture had become slightly slouched.
Nolan narrowed his eyes and approached Lincoln with a chuckle. "Mr. Riley, you look rather unwell. Are you not getting enough rest or is there something bothering you?"
Lincoln glanced at Nolan, brows furrowed. "I appreciate your concern, Mr. Greene. I'm fine. The birthday party is about to begin. You should go in."
The birthday celebration was just about to start. All of the expected guests arrived one after another, and the intimate banquet hall was filled with small groups of people chatting.
However, the spotlight was not on the birthday person. It was on Nolan. The moment he entered the banquet hall, a whirlwind of chaos seemed to follow him.
"Mr. Riley, don't you have anything to say? After all, I am also a doctor. Maybe I can solve your troubles."
Upon hearing this, Lincoln couldn't help but let out a laugh. He then shook his head and replied, "Thank you for your kind offer, Mr. Greene. However, I am not ill. So, I don't need to trouble you."
Nolan shook his head and said softly, "Mental illness is just another type of disease. I am not like other doctors. While they may only treat physical sickness, I have the ability to treat mental illnesses.
"Mr. Riley appears to have overlooked something. I am not one to act rashly. When Mr. Baxter Senior sought a cure for his illness, it took great determination on his part for me to intervene.
"If I may say so, Mr. Riley, it would be best not to disregard my genuine concern. After all, if you don't treat your illness, it may be too late when you want to seek treatment."
There was a hidden message in Nolan's words, and Lincoln, being an experienced individual, could not help but pick up on it.
"No, this is not the outcome that I want. The last thing I want is for the Baxter family to crumble and for Mr. Baxter to perish. Everything I do is for the Baxter family and Mr. Baxter.
"Had I known Mr. Baxter would resort to a hunger strike, Shaun would change like this, and Ironhead had malicious intentions, I would have chosen to fight until the very end instead of making compromises with them.
"At this point, it's too late to say anything or do anything. It's too late now."
As Lincoln spoke, tears streamed down his face, revealing the pain in his heart. It was a rare and powerful sight to see this iron-clad man, who had been fighting in the underworld for over 50 years, shed tears. This moment, more than any other time or language, was truly moving.
Exhaling softly, Nolan spoke with a deliberate pace, "Mr. Riley, as I've mentioned before, I am a physician who specializes in healing illnesses and saving lives. As the one responsible for overseeing the Baxter family's affairs, I will see this through until the end."
