Not only was Shaun being bold, but he was also being completely unhinged.
"Shaun, I can't believe you want to force your dad into retirement just to have power. Are you crazy? Is this the outcome of your talk with Mr. Lynch? You're betraying your dad for another man, aren't you?
"This is ridiculous! I'm going to pretend this conversation never happened, so don't talk to me about it anymore!" Lincoln was ready to leave after he was done speaking.
He had the right to be angry. After all, he had been through a lot with Archie throughout the years.
However, Shaun wanted to take away everything. He was being a disgrace to his father.
Shaun had already expected this reaction, so he hurriedly said to Lincoln with a smile, "Please don't be angry, Lincoln. I'm only doing this because I don't have a choice. I'm sure you don't want Mr. Lynch to start a war and destroy our family, right?
"I'm doing this so that we won't get hurt. It's all for the greater good of the Baxter family! Besides, it's not that bad at all. Once I become the head of the family and Mr. Lynch's godson, the Baxter family can become greater than ever. Most importantly, I can protect Dad and everyone else."
What he said did make sense. However, Lincoln just couldn't accept it.
Lincoln said, "What's the rush? After all, he's your dad. If you can wait patiently, you'll eventually be the head of the family. However, if you do this now, you'll break your dad's heart. Shaun, you can't do this!"
For a split second, Lincoln looked desperate. It seemed to him that his nightmare was about to come true.
Shaun continued and suggested, "Now, there's only one way to calm Mr. Lynch so that he'll forgive the Baxters, and that's for me to become his godson. Then, I'll have to be the head of the Baxters. That's the only way we can stop him from dealing with our family.
"Lincoln, please support my decision for the sake of the Baxter's and everyone! Only with your support can our family return to form. Then, Dad and I can finally stop fighting, and he can retire in peace. That'll be the best outcome."
Lincoln questioned if this was really the best outcome.
He kept quiet because Shaun did make sense. Compared to having the Baxter family be destroyed, that did seem to be the best solution they had.
Archie might feel hurt and betrayed, but he would still be alive.
