Audrey was glad to hear that from Kara. After all, Kara was her cousin, and Nolan was someone she loved. If there were any conflicts between the two, Audrey, the middle person, wouldn't be happy.
However, Audrey didn't see the insidious and smug look flitted across Kara's eyes when she mentioned Nolan. It was as though she had decided to do something to Nolan and wanted to embarrass him in front of everyone.
"Audrey, I'd better remind you. Don't lend Nolan money so he can buy me a present. I know he doesn't have much money, and I don't need him to give me anything valuable. It'd be pointless if you lent him money. I'll be unhappy," Kara said.
Audrey heard that and nodded with a smile. "Don't worry. I won't lend him money. He'll certainly prepare something for you with all his heart."
Just then, Jeanne's call came in. Audrey frowned slightly looking at the number.
Megan, Jeanne, and her used to be best friends, but Jeanne had sided with Megan and called her now. Audrey wondered what she was up to.
"Jeanne, what's the matter?" Audrey answered the call in the end.
Jeanne replied with a grin, "Audrey, Megan would like to treat you to lunch. You must come by."
Audrey wondered why they would want to treat her to a meal. Perhaps they were up to no good.
So, she immediately rejected her and said, "I'm sorry. I have something to deal with at noon, so I can't go. You all can go ahead."
With that, Audrey wanted to end the call.
Just then, Kara's eyes shone as she stared at Audrey and asked, "Audrey, did Megan ask you out for a meal? I want to join too!"
Audrey furrowed her brows and looked at Kara. "What for? She asked me out because of something. You'd better stay out of it."
Kara was displeased at Audrey's reply. She said, "I've heard everything. It has something to do with Nolan. Audrey, haven't you been telling me not to misunderstand Nolan? Isn't this a good chance?
"I have to go. You must bring me along. If not, I'll look for Megan myself."
Upon hearing that, Audrey could only nod helplessly. Nonetheless, she had a sense of foreboding. They wouldn't make such a nice offer for nothing unless they harbored evil intentions.
