The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 155

"All of this is true. If he's not the bad guy or liar. So, what? Am I the liar?"

Seeing how worked up Kara was, Kitty and Dipsy hurriedly stepped forward to comfort her. After all, they were her friends; they wouldn't abandon her just because of some guy.

"Kara, we're not saying we don't believe you. Why are you so worked up?" Dipsy said.

"Exactly! Nolan's just a big liar. But for now, we can't really do anything about him, can we? After all, he knows Lincoln. Who in Bellington doesn't know Lincoln's name? I think you'll just have to let it go for now," Kara elaborated.

Hearing this, Kara felt helpless yet still unwilling to back down. "So what if he knows Lincoln? Who's to say he hasn't deceived Lincoln too? Don't worry about it. I'll expose his true nature eventually."

Meanwhile, Lincoln and Nolan had already exited the bar.

When Kara saw Nolan walk out unharmed, she felt a strange mix of relief and frustration. It would have been perfect if he had gotten a little hurt.

"Lincoln, you go ahead to the car. I'll have a quick word with some friends," Nolan said.

With that, he walked over to Kara and her friends.

He said gently, "I hope that scene didn't scare you all."

His tone was soft, as if he genuinely cared whether they were frightened. After all, they were just women.

Kitty and Dipsy quickly shook their heads, indicating they were fine.

But before she could sigh in relief, he continued, and his following words sparked her anger. "Of course, anyone who tries to mess with me can't expect to walk away without consequences. So yes, Hunter's still in the bar, kneeling on broken glass. I already told you I won't change my decision.

"Well, if there's nothing else, you should head home. It's late; you shouldn't be out here."

With that, he got in Lincoln's car and left.

Kara was fuming. She gritted her teeth and muttered, "That Nolan is despicable. He's a small-minded person who doesn't show mercy when in a position of power. How dare he make Hunter kneel on broken glass? Come on, let's go check on him."

With that, she stormed back into the bar.
