Nolan smiled at Walter upon hearing this. "But it comes with its fair share of trouble, won't it?"
Walter's expression fell. Nolan was right. It would bring an overwhelming amount of trouble.
Norwich Group was currently embroiled in internal power struggles, and the Norwich family was anything but calm. These issues may be manageable for now, but no one would accept it if Nolan, as an outsider, were to take hold of the highest authority.
He would become the enemy of everyone with a stake in the group, and they would never let him off easily.
It didn't matter if Henry had personally appointed Nolan. Even if he reappeared to announce the decision and stand by Nolan's side, it would unlikely be enough to quell the storm.
After all, this involved a multi-billion-dollar commercial empire and the vast Norwich family.
Walter knew he wasn't the only one who would seek out Nolan. Others were also on their way. However, Walter had taken certain measures to ensure they would not discover Nolan's whereabouts for the time being.
"Mr. Greene, it looks like you're well aware of what you're up against. But even so, you won't back down, is that right? After all, this is Norwich Group and the entire Norwich family's power at stake."
Nolan shook his head with a smile. "Mr. Kaufman, you're underestimating me. I recognize that Norwich Group is wealthy, and the Norwich family holds immense value, but those alone wouldn't interest me.
"Besides, I have to fight a lot of people for it, and I'm someone who despises trouble. All I want is a peaceful life.
"It's only because of Mr. Norwich Senior's request—no, his plea—that I reluctantly accepted. The main reason is that I owe him a great deal. Otherwise, I would have never agreed, no matter how much he pleaded."
Pleaded?
Walter was indignant at Nolan's choice of words.
"Besides, if I were to share his whereabouts with you, what about the others? Wouldn't I be just as likely to leak it to them? So, there's no point in pressing further."
Walter nodded at this. "That was rude of me. I'm just very worried about him. But since he's chosen to trust you, we'll all place our trust in you as well.
"I understand it won't be easy for you to gain control of Norwich Group and the family, but rest assured that we old-timers will do everything we can to support you.
"Mr. Greene, may I ask when you plan to visit the Norwich family and Norwich Group?"
After a moment of silence, Nolan replied, "Just wait a little longer. I've learned quite a bit about the situation at Norwich Group and within the family.
"I have other things to deal with for now, so I won't be going just yet. Besides, I don't think there will be any significant issues in the short term."
