The Night I Let Go novel Chapter 45

Zachary became serious at the mention of this topic.

"Mr. Wright is only 35 years old. His wife is taking care of two kids at home. He has to bear the living expenses, car loans, and house loans by himself.

"Maybe two thousand dollars is a small amount to you, but it probably can support his family for a month."

Zachary knew about his colleagues' situations after spending several days in the business department.

The business department manager, Charles Wright, was 35 years old and quite capable. He took his job seriously and was pretty good at everything.

Most importantly, he cared for his wife and family. He was also a virtuous person.

When Zachary had his meals in the company, he had noticed a few times that Charles didn't eat in the canteen. Instead, he would microwave his lunchbox at the canteen.

His salary wasn't low, but he was frugal. He wanted to spend all the money he earned on his family.

Charles was certainly a good man.

Two thousand dollars might not seem like a lot, but it was a big amount to Charles.

Zachary briefly told Anya about Charles. After listening to him, she nodded and promised, "Mr. Lloyd, don't worry. I'll pay him back the bonus!"

"It's good that you know your mistake. This grilled beef is a reward for you." Upon seeing that, Zachary smiled and passed her a piece of beef that had just been cooked.

He wanted to place the grilled beef on Anya's plate, but she seemed to have got him wrong and opened her mouth.

Zachary was slightly troubled. After all, it was his cutlery.

"Oh! Mr. Lloyd, the beef you grilled tastes better than the one I grilled!"

Anya bit the grilled beef that Zachary had passed to her and smiled widely as she chewed.

Zachary blushed because of her actions.

Just then, a sound rang out from the table next to them.

Wendy's expression was extremely grim when she witnessed that scene.

Upon seeing that, Ethan stood up and walked up to Zachary, who sat at the next table.

He looked down at Zachary and chided condescendingly, "Zachary, don't you think you're too much?"

"Are you crazy?" Zachary glanced at him, looking a bit impatient.

He didn't go after Ethan to look for trouble, but the latter came to trigger him instead.

He wondered if Ethan thought he was a pushover.

"Aren't you dating Ellen? Why are you acting intimately with this woman now? Does Ellen know about this?" Ethan remained composed as he questioned.

He made himself seem righteous and deliberately came over to criticize Zachary for two-timing.

"Am I close with you?" Instead of feeling angry, Zachary was pretty amused.
