The Night I Let Go novel Chapter 43

Zachary didn't change his mind because of Anya's words. He merely stared at her with a strange expression.

Anya's cheeks gradually turned rosy.

After a while, Zachary sighed and reached out his hand to rub her head. He looked just like a brother caring for his younger sister.

Anya was stunned. The next instant, she heard Zachary's soft voice.

"Stop fooling around. We aren't a good fit for each other."

His voice was soft but extremely determined.

Anya fell silent. She didn't stop him and allowed him to walk past her and leave the villa.

The process of renting a room went smoothly, but the apartment type was slightly different from what Zachary had imagined.

He had wanted to rent a one-bedroom apartment because he would be living alone. Thus, a one-bedroom apartment would be enough for him.

He only found out that it was a two-bedroom apartment after viewing it.

The agent was confused too. He only noticed later that there was something wrong with the information. They had mistaken the two-bedroom apartment for a one-bedroom apartment.

Zachary didn't take too long to consider and signed the contract with the agent without hesitation. Then, he started tidying up the apartment.

The apartment was about 970 square feet and fully equipped with furniture. The janitor had also cleaned up the place before this. Hence, Zachary briefly tidied it up before hailing a cab to return to the villa in Bayville.

He put his clothes and some daily necessities into the suitcase.

Anya even offered to send Zachary to his apartment. She also went to buy bedding and other stuff with him.

The sky gradually turned dark when they were done.

Since Anya had been going around with Zachary all day, he felt bad. As such, he offered to treat her to a meal.

They went to a barbecue place near the apartment.

When they followed the waiter to the table, they bumped into Wendy and Ethan, who were also there for a meal.

"Wendy, considering that your marriage has come to this stage, I think both of you are at fault. He was wrong because he didn't trust you and wasn't considerate. He didn't make things clear with other women and didn't care about your feelings.

"You made a mistake because you shouldn't have been so good to him to the point that he took you for granted. Everything is in the past now. Just let it be. Maybe he'd come back to you when he had enough fun out there."

Ethan sighed and shook his head as though he felt Wendy had been wronged.

As Wendy listened to Ethan's comforting words, she somehow felt a surge of grievance. Soon, these emotions were overtaken by anger.

Wearing a grim expression, Wendy sneered. "So what if he comes back to me? I'm not a waste management center. I don't keep rubbish!"

Ethan sighed. "One only learns how to appreciate after losing something. I hope he'll understand this soon."

Although their tables were next to each other, Zachary and Anya didn't notice Wendy and Ethan.

It was quite noisy in the restaurant, so they couldn't even hear the conversation between Wendy and Ethan next to them.

Besides, Zachary and Anya were starving after being busy the whole afternoon.
