Zachary stopped in his tracks and turned around. Then, he stared coldly at Wendy, who hurried toward him.
"What's the matter?" Zachary was apathetic.
It felt as though he wasn't talking to his wife, whom he had loved deeply. Instead, it seemed like he was facing a stranger he hadn't met before.
Wendy gritted her teeth and somehow felt aggrieved.
Soon, her grievance was overtaken by endless rage.
Zachary was her husband. Although he had filed for a divorce, they were still legally a couple until they received their divorce certificate.
So what if they had divorced?
They had been together for five years. Wendy wondered what right he had to treat her so coldly.
"Why are you doing this to me?" she asked.
Wendy moved closer to him, leaving only a short distance between them. She stared intently at Zachary, her gaze full of grievance and anger.
Zachary laughed. "What have I done to you?"
"We're a married couple. Although you've insisted on getting a divorce, we're still legally married for now. But you've been flirting around with Ellen in front of everyone. Do you even care about how I felt?" Wendy complained.
"How you felt?" Zachary burst into laughter when he heard that.
His laughter was full of mockery. Even his gaze that was fixed on Wendy seemed different now.
There wasn't a hint of emotion in his gaze before this. But now, he seemed to be staring at Wendy with disdain and contempt.
Then, he turned to look Zachary in the eyes. The concern and worry in his eyes instantly vanished.
"Zachary, Wendy is your wife. You haven't fulfilled your duty as a husband all these years and made her work her fingers to the bones out there. And now, you've even hooked up with Ellen.
"Did you consider Wendy's feelings when you did all this? Do you think this is the right way to repay what Wendy has done for you over the past five years?
"As a man, I'm envious of you. I'll never let Wendy suffer like this if she's my wife. You… You don't deserve Wendy!" Ethan scolded Zachary righteously.
At this point, Ethan seemed to be claiming the moral high ground again.
As Wendy listened to Ethan, she instantly felt a surge of sorrow, and her eyes gradually turned red. She stared intently at Zachary, looking as if she had been terribly wronged.
Her gaze seemed to be implying that Zachary should apologize to her because even an outsider like Ethan also thought that Zachary had been too much.
