The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 957

TV, newspapers, magazines… Charlotte had a memory like a steel trap, but no matter how hard she tried, she just couldn’t place that face. So why did it feel like she knew him?

She was still turning it over in her mind when the car suddenly lurched. The jolt threw her backward, slamming her against the door.

Anthony reacted in a flash. His eyes went cold, and he pulled Charlotte straight into his arms, steadying her with one hand while grabbing the front seat with the other. He glared at the driver. “What was that?”

Jackson’s knuckles were white on the steering wheel. He glanced back, relief flickering across his face when he saw Charlotte was okay. “Anthony, someone’s after us. The tire blew out.”

Someone after them?

Anthony immediately checked the rearview mirror, spotting something sharp and dart-shaped stuck in the left tire. It was already flat.

Charlotte caught sight of it too. Her lips curled into a dangerous little smile, her eyes icy. That was the new model Interceptor. It targeted you, then fired a dart that could pierce even the toughest tires, forcing you to stop. Sometimes, if you were really unlucky, it could blow the whole thing up.

If Jackson hadn’t been such a skilled driver, they’d probably be upside down in the river by now.

“Charlotte, all the exits off the island are blocked,” Jackson said, his voice tight.

They’re trying to kill us and cut off every escape… Looks like they want us alive.

Charlotte looked over her shoulder, but there was no sign of Adonis and Hans’s car. Her gaze turned even colder. She licked her dry lips, then spoke, her voice cool and steady. “Give me the phone.”

“Yes.” Jackson got it right away. He dialed, waited for the call to connect, then handed her the phone.
