The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 922

“Since there was no antidote and modern medicine was useless for her illness, they had to try traditional medicine in the end.”

Glenn let out a heavy sigh. “But we’d never seen anything like that before. There was no real treatment.”

“So, whether she lived or not, nobody really knows.”

“My PhD advisor and I dug into the whole thing. Turns out, a bunch of people on the Isle of Veil had genetic problems, but somehow, they survived.”

“We found out later they’d all taken some kind of antidote. Something happened after that, though, and the formula disappeared. After that, the people with those genetic mutations started dying off, one after another.”

Charlotte listened quietly. “If I go to the Isle of Veil now, do you think there’s any chance to find the cure?”

Glenn looked at her in disbelief.

“You can’t even think about that. The Isle of Veil isn’t like Solenia,” he said quickly, trying to snap her out of it.

“Solenia’s governor might be shady, but at least he’s got a little humanity left. The Isle of Veil is a whole different story. Everyone there is ruthless, cold, and dangerous.”

Charlotte didn’t answer.

When she stayed silent, Glenn thought maybe she understood and tried to change the subject. “You finished the last experiment, right? Looks like we’ve still got some time. Want to squeeze in another one?”

“No.”

Her voice was sharp, edged with anger.

Before Glenn could even process it, Charlotte had already packed up her things and walked out, bag in hand.

He watched her leave, her back straight and cold, and felt completely lost.

Why did she snap like that? He didn’t even say anything that bad.

He’d never understand how these geniuses think.

...

Outside Kingswood University, Charlotte pulled out her phone and messaged Dr. David.

Nine: Get the serum ready. Jackson and Adonis will pick it up in half an hour.
