The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1918

Aside from them, there was absolutely no one else.

Perhaps

She really was just overthinking things.

She had already flat-out rejected Roger. After the harsh words they'd exchanged, why would he abandon his work to chase her all the way out to a place like this?

"Stella, are you feeling unwell?"

The doctor who had treated her stood up, asking with genuine concern.

"No." Stella shook her head, pulling her gaze back to the doctor. "I just wanted to thank you for taking care of me last time. It's just some fruit, a small token of my appreciation."

"There's no need for that, Stella. We were just doing our jobs."

The doctor politely declined.

The main reason being that he couldn't actually take the credit for it.

"I'll be going now."

Stella set the bag down. Satisfied that there was no one she recognized in the room, she turned and left.

Only after Stella's silhouette vanished from sight did Roger finally step out from the back room.

This medical team actually consisted of ten doctors. Roger had tagged along on his own accord, entirely off the official roster.

"Roger, this is a thank-you gift from Stella."

Seeing him emerge, the doctor immediately placed the fruit on Roger's desk.

"Roger, she's gone." The young guy stood closest to Kenneth, seemingly oblivious to Roger's darkened expression as he laughed. "It looked like she came here specifically looking for you. When she didn't find you, she definitely seemed a little disappointed."

Roger stared intently in the direction Stella had disappeared, his brows furrowed in utter silence.

"Roger, you've been watching over Stella in secret for a month and a half. We're heading back soon—are you really not going to make a move?"

Hearing this, Roger slowly pulled his gaze back. He shot the young guy a glacial glare, his voice chillingly flat. "Do you have nothing better to do than run your mouth?"

Catching Roger's sudden, freezing hostility, the young guy's smile froze, a wave of guilt washing over him.

He was just trying to help the guy strategize. Why the sudden attitude?

"If you're so free, you can handle the physical exams for the seniors in West Montara today. By yourself."

"By myself?"

Hearing that, the young guy practically collapsed. But not daring to openly argue, he just grumbled under his breath, "The seniors in West Montara are completely uncooperative."

There weren't many of them, but they were all incredibly stubborn.

Going alone meant he was going to be tortured out of his mind.
