Hearing that, Queenie's heart lurched.
What did she mean by that?
"To be honest, I truly admire Asclepius. But..."
Charlotte's lips curved as she deliberately watched the micro-expressions on Queenie's face. "The president's seat will be mine."
"Really?"
Queenie forced herself to stay calm, keeping a tight smile on her face. "You have great ambition, Charlotte. But for someone so young, you certainly talk big."
"The president's seat belongs only to Asclepius.
Only Asclepius is qualified to sit there."
At Queenie's words, Charlotte raised an eyebrow, her eyes narrowing as she studied the woman before her.
She referred to Asclepius in the third person, rather than saying 'me'.
It sounded more like she was defending Asclepius.
A fake defending the real deal?
This was a first for Charlotte.
"There is no one in this world better than Asclepius."
Queenie glared coldly at Charlotte, her hostility spiking at the mention of the presidency. "The president's seat will absolutely be mine."
Without giving Charlotte a chance to respond, she turned and slammed the door shut.
"Charlotte, is everything alright?"
Hans appeared with a platter of fruit, asking respectfully.
"I'm fine."
Charlotte picked up a grape, popping it into her mouth with a casual laugh. "How interesting."
"Anthony has already compiled all the data on Aurelia's pharmaceutical conglomerate."
Hans reported, unsure of what she was laughing about.
"Got it."
The dean of Pinnacle Global University asked, looking puzzled.
He had heard Wallace bring it up.
On the phone, he had praised Charlotte to high heaven.
"No." Vinson cast a disdainful look at Charlotte before turning his confident gaze back to Asclepius. "They originally approached Charlotte, but she is still just a student. Think about it—she's clearly underqualified."
"Thankfully, they reached out to Asclepius right after."
"Asclepius?" The dean of Pinnacle Global University looked stunned.
Would Asclepius really settle for being a regular professor?
He found that hard to believe.
"Exactly." The smile in Vinson's eyes deepened, his voice brimming with certainty. "After all, Cabinda University's medical school is one of the best in the world."
"How could the traditional medicine professor be some nobody?"
"Compared to Asclepius, Charlotte..." Vinson sneered mercilessly. "Is absolutely useless!"
