The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1094

The attendant glanced at Aloys’s sour expression, frowned, and slipped away without another word.

Once the door closed behind him, Aloys finally turned to face Allanson, confusion written all over his face. “Dad, do you have any idea why Franco suddenly came back?”

Allanson just looked at him, wiping his fingers clean, speaking slowly. “You’ll know soon enough.”

With that, Allanson walked out of the study, leaving Aloys alone. His mind was a mess, thoughts spinning so fast he couldn’t focus on anything.

Franco would never just come back on a whim. If he returned, and came straight to The Hawk Estate, it had to mean he wanted something from Father. Some kind of deal.

Solenia had everything. What could possibly bring him here?

Aloys braced his hands on the desk, replaying everything in his head, trying to figure it out.

Suddenly, an awful thought hit him, and all the color drained from his face.

Was Franco here for the antidote?

...

News of Franco's return spread across the Isle of Veil in less than five minutes. Everyone recognized his convoy, and not a single person dared to get in their way. The road was clear the whole way.

After forty minutes, the grand, imposing Hawk Estate finally came into view.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Franco looked up at the red roof of the house. His dark eyes were impossible to read, but there was still a chill about him.

He hated coming back to the Isle of Veil.

If Allanson hadn’t interfered back then, he wouldn’t have ended up so badly hurt, or lost contact with Lottie’s mother. She had to struggle through her illness alone to give birth, almost dying in misery.

If not for Allanson, his daughter wouldn’t have been left wandering for more than ten years, suffering all that pain.

This place wasn’t his home. It was his abyss.

“Dad, have some water.”
