The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1069

“Yes, I do.”

Nora’s smile was soft as she traced her finger over Charlotte’s photo. Her voice was warm and quiet. “I was never really there for Lottie as a mom when she was growing up. A wedding only happens once in a lifetime. I want her to have the very best.”

“Alright, I’ll get started on my end,” Samantha chirped back, her excitement drowning out the sadness in Nora’s words.

“But there’s really no need to rush,” Samantha laughed. “She’s not even twenty yet. No matter what, the earliest is still months away!”

Months...

Nora’s face turned pale as she tightened her grip on the phone. A silent, bittersweet smile tugged at her lips.

She probably wouldn’t make it to see Lottie’s wedding.

The genetic research lab was cold and bright. After leaving the library, Charlotte didn’t return to her room. She went straight to the lab and started working. She kept at it all night without a break.

Jackson and Adonis stood in the corner, watching Charlotte move around the lab like she never got tired. Both looked worried.

Jackson finally spoke up. “You’ve been here all night. You should rest.”

There were thousands of compounds in the lab. There was no way she could test them all in one night.

Charlotte didn’t reply. Her hands never stopped.

Jackson frowned even more. He was starting to think her search for the antidote was turning into an obsession.

He tried again, but Charlotte just ignored him.

“Let me handle this,” Adonis whispered, giving Jackson a look. He cleared his throat, putting on his most serious face. “If you don’t go rest right now, I’m calling Anthony and telling on you.”

Charlotte froze. She turned just a little, fixing Adonis with a stare that was pure ice. “Say that again.”
