The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1057

At the airport gate, Charlotte moved through the crowd under the name Asclepius. After landing on the Isle of Veil, the Hawk family and some folks from the institute would be waiting for her. To avoid Aloys and the others getting suspicious, she had no choice but to fly commercial.

The terminal was packed, people rushing everywhere. In the middle of it all stood a tall, lean boy dressed head to toe in black. His windbreaker collar was turned up, and the brim of his baseball cap hid most of his face. Even so, if you looked closely, you’d spot the short hair, the sharp features, and that wicked little smirk tugging at his lips. There was no mistaking it—this was a good-looking guy.

Standing in front of him was a man who was at least a head taller. Normally, two guys talking wouldn’t turn any heads. But right now, the taller man was bent over, fastening a bracelet onto the other’s wrist with such care that their faces nearly touched. The air between them felt electric.

People nearby couldn’t help but watch. This was definitely not something you saw every day.

“I wove a few gold threads into the hair tie Grandma gave you,” Anthony said quietly, his voice a low rasp. “The gold works as a tiny transmitter and tracker. If anything goes wrong, just touch the metal piece. Got it?”

No matter where she ended up, he’d always find her.

Charlotte arched a brow and gave the hair tie a once-over, lips quirking in amusement. It actually looked legit.

“Okay,” she replied.

“And—”

“Shh.” Charlotte cut him off, reaching up to hook a finger under Anthony’s chin. She leaned in, her eyes playful. “We don’t have much time left. Are you really going to use it on instructions?”

The Isle of Veil was dangerous, sure. But she’d spent three years, from fifteen to eighteen, fighting her way through hell. She’d survived worse than this.

“We might not see each other for a while,” she said softly. “Isn’t there something you want to do?”

Anthony froze for a second, locking eyes with the face that had once shamelessly flirted with him. After everything that happened last night, though, he was prepared. He knew exactly who was standing in front of him. He smiled, just a little.

“There is,” he said.
