The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 337

Frederick's blunt words left Abigail speechless, and she was unable to come up with any retort.

He led me to a quieter spot, then glanced at me with a hint of concern in his eyes.

"Samuel, I'll be honest with you. Your recent news has spread far and wide. I just couldn't stand Joshua bullying you so blatantly. That's why I said what I said earlier…"

As he spoke, he gave me an apologetic look and forced a smile before adding, "You… You won't blame me for that, right?"

Hearing this, I shook my head gently and replied casually with a smile, "How could I blame you? You were just standing up for me."

Frederick visibly relaxed after hearing my response.

"So, why were you looking for me? Is it for another collaboration?"

I recalled his urgency when he had come up to me earlier and couldn't help but suspect that Blair was behind this. She had probably sent him to approach me instead after my repeated refusals and constant avoidance of her.

Sure enough, after I asked, he smiled and said softly, "Exactly, Samuel. Nothing ever gets past your notice. To be frank, this time, Ms. Shepherd has asked me to attend the event and made it clear that if I were to run into you, I should talk to you about the next project."

Hearing this, I felt a faint sense of resistance in my heart.

I wasn't sure if it was worth continuing any association with Blair. The recent conflict between us left a bad taste in my mouth, and I was hesitant to see her again, lest it stir up more trouble in the future.

However, rejecting a collaboration outright might come across as arrogant.

He smiled and nodded, agreeing to it. "That's no problem at all. It's not a big deal. You didn't even need to go out of your way to mention it."

I chuckled lightly and shook my head, saying, "It might not be a big deal for you, but it's very important to me."

Blair's persistent pursuit had become a source of constant frustration for me.

I no longer wanted any form of contact with her. All I wished for was to focus on living my own life peacefully.

After finishing the conversation with Frederick, I felt a wave of relief washing over me.

However, just as I was about to return to my seat, I noticed Abigail striding toward me with a cold expression.
