"Samuel, please don't be mad at me. Alright?"
Abigail snuggled herself up to me, holding me tightly as she tried to leave her scent on me as if trying to pull me into her world.
But for some reason, the closer I got to her, the more uneasy I felt. She was like an evil spirit that was constantly trying to pull me with her into the depths of the abyss.
I shook my head lightly, then explained in a calm tone, "Please don't misunderstand, Abigail. I'm not mad at you. I just think you've had a long day and need to rest instead of snuggling up to me."
I spoke bluntly, but all I got from her was an aggrieved look. Right after that, before she could respond, her phone started ringing, its sound filling my ears.
I glanced at her phone, noticing how she nervously put it away, clearly not wanting me to see who was calling.
"Is it something urgent from the company? Is it an emergency?" I asked casually with a smile.
As expected, an awkward expression flashed across her face. However, she still nodded, taking the out I gave her.
"Yes, the company's been busy lately. I really have a lot to handle."
Having said that, she quickly stood up and walked toward the balcony.
Even as she walked away, she didn't forget to reassure me, saying, "Samuel, wait for me, okay? I'll come back for you after I settle this."
I smiled at her, waving my hand to indicate that I was fine.
Seeing that I didn't seem upset, her expression eased a little.
Hanson was genuinely happy for me. He patted my shoulder with a broad smile and reminded me earnestly, "Samuel, this banquet is an important one. It's a great opportunity for your future, one that can help you build more connections and secure more resources. I believe you'll make the most of it, won't you?"
His encouragement was very motivational for me.
I nodded with a smile and replied earnestly, "Don't worry, Mr. Jigman. I won't let you down!"
With his encouragement, I felt even more confident in myself.
I didn't know how far I could go in the future, but there was one thing I knew for sure: I shouldn't be held back.
With what was left of my time, I needed to do everything I wanted, leaving no regrets behind. That was what I truly hoped for at this stage of my life.
