The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 266

Zack smiled as he walked up to me, giving my shoulder a reassuring pat. "Samuel, it's been a few days. Why do you look so worn out?"

Sure enough, those who care the most are always the first to notice the changes in a person.

"Someone I thought of as a little sister has been sick, and I've been taking care of her. But I got a good night's sleep, so I'm feeling much better now."

Hearing that, Zack's shoulders eased, and his gaze softened.

I led him to a nearby café. The moment we sat down, I eagerly asked, "Uncle Zack, what's been keeping you so busy lately? I haven't heard from you in ages."

He sighed. "I've been dealing with some tough issues, but don't worry, they're mostly sorted out now."

Then, he added, "Actually, I've got some good news for you."

I looked at him in surprise. "Good news? What is it, Uncle Zack?"

He handed me an envelope. Curious, I took it from him. "What's this?"

I examined the envelope and found, to my surprise, an auction invitation inside. I looked up at Zack, puzzled. "Why are you giving me an auction invitation, Uncle Zack?"

Zack chuckled. "Do you remember the family heirloom you had?"

I nodded. "Yes."

It was my grandmother's emerald pendant, passed down to my mother. When my father's business failed, he pawned it. Later, when he wanted to buy it back, he never got the chance.

That emerald pendant was worth millions, a masterpiece of craftsmanship. Someone must have bought it for a high price and added it to their collection.

Since Zack brought it up again, could it be that the emerald pendant had finally resurfaced?

He shook his head. "No, I won't be going."

"Alright," I said with a smile. "Once I have the pendant, I'll bring it back to you."

Zack smiled faintly. "It belongs to your mother. Once you have it, keep it safe. I have something to take care of now, but let's have a meal together soon."

With that, Zack turned and left. I watched his retreating figure, lost in thought.

Just then, my phone buzzed with a message from Zack. He sent me a contact and instructed me to see this person immediately after the auction.

Then, I received a call from him. "Sam, this doctor is a neurology specialist. You need to see him and let me know what he says. Promise me you'll go."

His repeated reminders tugged at my heart. Finally, he ended the call.
