The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 217

When I saw the anger blazing in Abigail's eyes, a sudden realization hit me.

"Have you been following me?" I asked.

Her face turned icy, her expression filled with irritation and fury.

I couldn't believe it. This should've been the moment for me to be angry, yet somehow, she was the one acting like she'd been wronged.

The absurdity of it all made me laugh. I shook my head as I looked at her. "Abigail, sometimes you act just like a child."

Apparently, my casual attitude only infuriated her more. She glared at me, her tone sharp and accusatory. "Who gave you permission to go out with another woman?"

Her words lit a fuse in me. My anger, which I had been suppressing, started to bubble to the surface.

How on earth did she think she had the right to say something like that to me?

I met her gaze, my voice calm but cold. "Abigail, don't you think there's no point in having this conversation anymore?"

"What did you just say?" she snapped, her frown deepening, her frustration evident.

"You shouldn't be so greedy," I said plainly.

That hit a nerve. She grabbed my arm, yanking me closer, her tone sharp. "Greedy? Are you serious, Samuel? Don't throw words around if you can't back them up."

I looked at her, my expression unmoving. "I think I've been more than reasonable."

"You—"

The absurdity of it all made me laugh, though no humor existed. It was all just so... pathetic.

Abigail grabbed my chin and kissed me forcefully as if trying to assert some twisted dominance. When she pulled away, her voice was dripping with mockery.

"So what if you don't love me anymore, Samuel?" she said, almost triumphant. "You're still stuck here, aren't you? You can't escape from me."

Her words hit me like a slap. I stood there, stunned, unable to comprehend how she could say something so cruel and possessive.

So this was it. From the very beginning, her only goal had been to keep me under her thumb—to turn me into someone she could humiliate whenever she wanted.

I clenched my fists, furious and at a loss for words.

Why couldn't we just part ways peacefully? Why did she insist on dragging things down to this level? Was seeing me trapped and miserable the outcome she wanted most?
