The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 160

Abigail's words left me speechless. I didn't even know how to respond.

Seeing my silence, she fixed a stern gaze on me and said coldly, "So, Samuel, listen up. From now on, you're not allowed to go out to work without my permission. Got it?"

I would have blindly followed Abigail's orders in the past. But not this time.

I met her gaze calmly and shook my head. "I can agree to anything else, but not this," I said firmly.

I paused before continuing, my tone steady, "I'm a person—a living, breathing human being. I'm not your possession or your pet that you can call and dismiss whenever you want. All I'm asking for is the basic respect of not interfering in my life."

Hearing this, Abigail burst out laughing. She gave me a mocking look and shook her head. "Isn't that exactly what you are right now?" she retorted.

I stared at her calmly.

She seemed to sense my quiet resistance. "Your reasons aren't convincing, so I'm not inclined to agree," she said, her tone sharp.

I smiled faintly. "Abigail, you're still as arrogant as ever," I said. "But I'm not agreeing to your demands either. If you want me to stay, then fine. I'll maintain the facade of a happy marriage and do my duties as a husband. But that's it. I won't think about anything more than that for now."

I paused, fixing my gaze on her, then added, "Unless you agree to one condition."

"So, you're finally showing your true colors." Abigail scoffed, a mocking glint in her eyes. She folded her arms across her chest and said, "Go ahead. Let's hear what kind of ridiculous demands you're going to make."

Abigail's eyes were fixed on me, as if analyzing whether I was telling the truth. Seeing me remaining silent, she suddenly pulled out her phone and authorized a transfer of 100 million dollars into my bank account. The notification of the transaction popped up almost instantly on my phone.

The company's financial controller was startled and quickly called to ask what was going on.

"I'm the CEO of this company. Do I need to report to you every time I use the company's funds?" Abigail's voice was flat, without a hint of emotion.

The financial controller chuckled nervously. "N-No, of course not, Ms. Bardot. You're the one in charge," he stammered.

After hanging up, Abigail stared at me, a faint smile playing on her lips. "Are you satisfied now?" she asked.
