The inmates would have given Charlie the cold shoulder had this happened a few hours ago.
However, after experiencing and witnessing Charlie's wrath and ruthlessness, the inmates did not think that Charlie's request was excessive.
Therefore, they nodded vigorously, fearing that Charlie would be upset if they didn't respond quickly enough.
Seeing them nodding in agreement, Charlie smiled and commanded, "Since you have no objections, we will start right away. The cell is so dirty and smelly, so you should clean it first. It must be spotless, or you will all be punished."
Without hesitation, the inmates immediately began to clean the cell.
In order to fulfill Charlie's request, those who could move immediately joined in the spring cleaning. Some were in charge of removing all the bedding that had not been cleaned and bringing them to the bathroom, some washing the bedding, while the rest started to clean the cell.
They were fully aware of the consequences if Charlie was not satisfied with the level of cleanliness. Charlie would beat them up, and the beating was agonizing and painful.
Even Dean, who was in great pain, dragged himself to Charlie's bed with a towel and repeatedly wiped it clean. He focused on wiping the footprints he had left earlier, making sure he wiped them off without leaving any trace.
Charlie looked at Dean, who was in a terrible state, and said, "I have a question. You must answer truthfully. If you dare to lie to me, I'll make you suffer a thousand times more than you are now. Do you understand?"
Shuddering in fear, Dean quickly stood up straight and answered, "Yes, sir! I'll tell you everything I know."
Then, Charlie remembered Leandro, the informant that the police officer had mentioned to him, so he asked, "Have you heard of Leandro?"
"Yes!" Dean nodded hastily. "I know Leandro. He's very smart and quirky and knows a lot around here. He has a nickname, BP Know-It-All, BP for Brooklyn Prison. He is in cell number 15, not far from here."
Charlie inquired, "Tell me all about the inmates in the prison, especially the gangs here."
Dean thought for a while and recounted, "There are two prison areas here. We are in Area 1. Each prison area has a leader, and this leader is the one who can control the entire prison."
Dean paused to clear his throat and continued, "The leader of Area 1 we are in is Gustavo Sanchez, the infamous Mexican drug lord. He is very powerful. I heard that before he was arrested, his net worth exceeded 10 billion dollars. Since he was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole, his family has inherited his drug empire in Mexico and sent a group of diehards one after the other to the prison to protect him and help him become the boss here. Thanks but no thanks to them, Area 1 has become the prison with the highest mortality rate in the States."
