The Lady Nun Seeks Justice (Eliza Stonor) novel Chapter 532

Although Eliza had known that she kept some small insects, she never expected there to be so many of them.

And where did she hide them? She couldn’t see a single one on a usual day, but now, at her call, hundreds, even thousands, appeared–it was nothing short of miraculous.

Luke felt a surge of curiosity in his heart but quickly reined it in.

After all, this might be Eliza’s secret. It was probably best not to pry too much.

He steeled himself and focused again.

Eliza, of course, noticed the change in his expression but paid it no mind.

Since Nolan had entrusted her with this squad of Black Flag soldiers, it was clear that they were the ones he trusted most.

So, with regard to the poison insects, Eliza felt free to use them as needed, all in the hopes of finding Emmitt as quickly as possible.

Not long after, her poison insects sent back a report.

Eliza said, “Southeast, 3 miles, an abandoned church.”

With this information, Eliza immediately led the Black Flag Army southeast at full speed.

In addition to this, another wave of poison insects had spotted another group of people who were closer, approaching the ruined church while searching with knives in hand.

They were moving faster and would likely get there before Eliza’s group.

The most important detail: the leader of this group was someone Eliza had met before–Rikkert.

Eliza said, “Tina, you’re faster. Go to the church immediately. If you can, get Emmitt out. If not, delay them until we get there.”

Tina nodded, “Understood.”

She glanced at the Black Flag Army beside Eliza, then sprang into action, leaping off a tree and disappearing from sight within moments.

Fifteen minutes later, Eliza’s group arrived at the ruined church, only to find that the battle had already begun.

Tina stood at the entrance of the church, blocking it alone. Several bodies lay around her, all from Rikkert’s group.

Eliza quickly assessed the situation. The enemy had far more people–about forty to fifty, while her own group was much smaller, with only a dozen or so men.

Though they were outnumbered, Eliza’s men were no ordinary soldiers. They were Black Flag soldiers, elite members personally chosen by Nolan.

“Kill.”

Eliza’s voice was cold as she gave the order.

Luke was the first to unsheathe his blade, charging forward with a fierce cry. In one swift motion, he cut down an enemy soldier.

The other Black Flag soldiers followed suit, drawing their blades without hesitation. The battle quickly erupted in full force.

Within moments, the area outside the church became a river of blood.

From the other side of the battle, Rikkert saw Eliza and sneered. “So you are Diana. Since you’ve come, don’t expect to leave

here alive.”

As soon as his words fell, Rikkert charged forward with his sword raised.

Tina intercepted him again with a sharp strike.

Her eyes were filled with cold killing intent.

Eliza nodded slightly to Tina. “Go. Don’t hold back.”

Tina’s eyes narrowed. “Understood.”

Eliza immediately realized that Emmitt’s condition was critical.

The once lively man was now pale, his face gaunt, and his body seemed drained of life–his strength was completely spent.

Eliza checked his pulse and realized his internal organs were severely damaged. He was barely clinging to life.

Desperate, Eliza reached into her pendant space and pulled out a vial of undiluted magical water. “Emmitt, drink this. This water can save you. It will save you.”

She tried to feed it to him, but Emmitt weakly shook his head. “Good child… there’s no need. I’m… I’m running out of time. It‘ s my time to go.”

“Before I die, I can see you one last time. I have no regrets.”

Eliza’s heart shattered. “No! You can’t die!”

She ignored his protest, opening the vial and forcing the water into his mouth, one sip at a time. She tried to feed him more, but Emmitt only moistened his lips and refused to drink further.

“Emmitt, listen to me. Drink more. I’ve trained as a doctor, I’ve learned many medical skills, and I have magical water. I can save you. I really can.”

But before she could force more into him, Emmitt suddenly began to cough violently, spewing both blood and the magical water he had just consumed.

“Emmitt?” Eliza couldn’t care about anything else. She quickly covered his mouth and retrieved a century–old ginseng from her pendant space. After preparing it, she shoved it into Emmitt’s mouth. “Emmitt, please.”

She hoped this ancient ginseng could sustain him, but Emmitt’s hand suddenly grabbed her wrist, and he weakly said, ” Take… take this child… go…”

But before he could finish, Emmitt passed out, falling unconscious.

Eliza had no choice but to force his mouth open and insert the ginseng. Then, she covered his eyes with a cloth.

She looked at the little beggar, whose face was full of concern for Emmitt. “I know you’re worried about him, but I must take him with me now. Will you trust me this one time?”
