Yehuda Beard, the scribe, looked at the contents of the letter with a grim expression and said, “Although we don’t know how the Holy Lady came to Fort County, Fletcher has given orders, and we cannot disregard them.”

Kyrie nodded, “If that’s the case, let’s send people to Vollult Town. But when should we move?”

Yehuda responded, “Fletcher’s letter says the Holy Lady is in Vollult Town secretly to save someone, so this is an opportunity. However, to be safe, we should wait until she leaves Fort County before taking action.”

Kyrie, after a moment of deliberation, nodded. “Alright, that seems to be the only way. Let’s do it.”

Just as he was about to command his subordinates, a small officer rushed in, panicked. “Bad news! Something’s happened!”

“What happened?” Kyrie asked, confused.

The small officer replied, “It’s Chaim. He’s had his eyes gouged out, his tongue cut off, and both his hands chopped off.”

“What?”

Kyrie’s rage surged instantly. “Who did this? Which audacious scoundrel dared to harm my son?”

The officer quickly added, “Not just Chaim, but a few of our men at the county office too. They’ve had their eyes gouged out and tongues cut off. They’re all lying in front of the county office, bleeding uncontrollably.”

Yehuda felt an awful premonition. “What about Odin? My son?”

The officer confirmed, “Your son is among them.”

Yehuda was struck like lightning. The next moment, he screamed in anguish, “My son!”

When Kyrie and Yehuda reached the county office’s front gates, they saw the line of bodies on the street.

Each was in a terrible state, making one’s heart shudder.

The worst among them was Chaim.

When Kyrie saw his son’s severed arms, his rage exploded. “Who did this? Who brought them here?”

Unfortunately, no one at the county office had seen who brought them in, so Kyrie’s question went unanswered.

Yehuda, heartbroken, picked up his son and tried to ask him what happened. But when Odin opened his mouth, his severed tongue was exposed, making it impossible for Yehuda to ask anything.

As the officer ran out to fetch a doctor, Kyrie hastily ordered to bring Chaim and the others inside.

They were all still alive, but their eyes were blinded, their mouths silenced. They looked as though they were already dead.

“What happened this afternoon? Where did Chaim and Odin go? Why did they return in this condition?” Yehuda growled through gritted teeth as he questioned the guards.

The guard at the door quickly responded, “We don’t know. Chaim never told us anything.”

Kyne muttered, “I didn’t expect her to come to us before we even went after her.”

When Hubert regained consciousness, Eliza left half of her men with him and stationed a few of her poison insects near the Healing Hall.

She then took the rest of the Black Flag soldiers to search for Emmitt.

An hour later, they reached the shore where the poison insects had found traces.

The Black Flag soldiers discovered disorganized footprints.

“It looks like there were two people–a large one and a small one. The smaller one seems to be a child, about ten years old. The larger one is weak and unsteady, with wide steps–either an elderly person or an injured adult.”

“That fits. Keep searching.”

Following the tracks, they soon reached a dense forest filled with overgrown grass, where the footprints were obscured. They quickly lost the trail.

Eliza frowned and said, “Split up and search carefully.”

“Yes.” The other Black Flag soldiers scattered, while Luke stayed by Eliza’s side, curiously watching her.

Then he witnessed something remarkable.

Eliza knelt down, one hand touching the ground, closing her eyes. After a few breaths, countless black dots emerged from

beneath her hand, swiftly scattering in all directions toward the surrounding grass.
