The King Of Warriors novel (Jared Chance) novel Chapter 6796

Calder remained silent for a long time, emotion surging behind his deep-blue eyes like the tides.

He was all too familiar with the horror lurking in the Nether Abyss: that demonic soul. The monstrous being had existed for countless ages, and no one had ever managed to eradicate it.

Ancient masters and overlords of the heavens had all been helpless against it. Yet Jared was willing to risk his own life to rid the world of this scourge. His courage and concern for others surpassed those of ordinary prodigies by far.

At last, Calder nodded firmly. "Our clan's cultivation is limited, and we cannot leave the Void Sea. I regret that we cannot help you destroy the demonic soul. But remember this: wherever you go and whenever you need us, Deepblue City will always be a refuge for you. The hundreds of millions of Water Clan members will never forget your kindness. Send word if you need anything, and we will come to your aid with all our strength."

"I'll remember," Jared said with a slight nod.

Without another word or backward glance, he turned and headed directly for the city gate.

His plain gray robe drifted through the clear water. Tall and solitary as an immortal walking alone beneath the heavens, he passed through the watching crowds and steadily left the peaceful underwater city behind.

Kael stood in the gate square, supporting Mira as her breathing grew steadier. Both watched the gray figure recede into the distance, unable to tear their eyes away.

Leaning gently against her brother's shoulder, Mira watched the lonely silhouette reflected in her deep-blue eyes. "Kael," she whispered, "will he ever come back?"

Kael gazed into the distance, his expression serious and resolute. "He will. A man with such a clear heart and such compassion for others won't fall so easily. When he destroys the demonic soul and removes the threat, he'll return."

Along the outer edge of Azurewave Island, jagged reefs rose at uneven angles. Pounded by fierce waves year after year, their rock faces were slick and scored with watermarks and hollows of every depth.

Under the black night sky, the sea roared and surged, slamming repeatedly against the cliffs. Each impact boomed dully, throwing spray high into the air until it broke into fine mist and scattered on the wind.

A gray-clad figure burst suddenly from the dark water. Tall and agile, it was Jared, returning to the island.

He landed securely on a huge black reef, gray chaotic force circulating around him.

A warm glow of origin power washed over his body. In an instant, it evaporated every drop of icy seawater from his soaked robes, leaving them clean and dry.

Jared raised his gaze through the darkness toward the ruined, silent outline of Azurewave Island in the distance.

Once ablaze with lights and the majesty of a dominant power, the island now showed only scattered lamps and a lifeless stillness. After the battle, it was desolate, its spiritual energy dispersed, with none of its former grandeur remaining.

He did not linger. With a light tap of his foot against the reef, he became a fleeting streak of gray light.

He skimmed low and silently over jagged rocks, black beaches, and empty shores, heading straight for the inn.

The flagstone streets lay deserted beneath the night sky. Pale moonlight spread across them like a thin layer of frost, lending the scene a lonely chill.

Jared slipped through an open window into a room at the inn and landed soundlessly.
