A cold smile touched Corvin's mouth.
"Jared, you are too arrogant. You killed Blackraven, so now you think you can stand against me, a peak Golden Immortal Level Eight expert? Today, I will show you what a true gap looks like."
The moment he finished speaking, his aura erupted.
Red-gold light burst from his body like a blazing sun.
Scorching heat swept outward and sent gravel flying across the valley floor.
The air around him warped from the heat, releasing a low, humming distortion.
Peak Golden Immortal Level Eight.
The pressure was several times stronger than Blackraven's.
Jared stood there and let the heat strike his face.
His black eyes did not change.
He slowly raised his right hand.
The Dragonslayer Sword came out of its sheath.
Violet sword-light lit the dim valley, like lightning cutting across the sky, standing in sharp contrast to Corvin's red-gold glow.
"Come."
Jared's voice was calm.
Corvin moved.
He was frighteningly fast. His red-gold figure crossed the valley like a meteor, carrying scorching force as he struck Jared's chest with one palm.
Golden Crow Burning Heaven Palm.
That strike was strong enough to crush a small mountain into powder.
Jared did not meet it head-on.
He shifted sideways.
The seed of spatial law spun rapidly inside him, and his body slid several feet away at the last instant, barely avoiding Corvin's palm force.
Corvin's palm smashed into the massive boulder behind him.
The several-dozen-foot-tall rock exploded at once. Shattered stone shot out like hidden weapons and slammed into the cliffs on both sides.
"Dodging?"
Corvin sneered. "How long do you think you can dodge?"
He turned, and the second palm arrived immediately.
This one was faster.
More vicious.
Where the palm wind passed, compressed air screamed.
A red-gold palm print spread in the air like an enormous Golden Crow opening its wings, sealing every path of retreat.
This time, Jared did not dodge.
He turned the Dragonslayer Sword in his hand.
Violet sword-light shot forward like a straight bolt of lightning and collided with the red-gold palm print.
Sword met palm.
Boom.
A huge crash tore through the valley.
Broken stones rained down from the cliffs.
Violet sword-light and red-gold radiance twisted together, tearing and devouring each other until blinding light filled the air.
Jared was pushed back several steps.
Every step left a deep footprint in the ground.
His hand went slightly numb. The Dragonslayer Sword buzzed in his grip, as if it had endured immense pressure.
But the sword had blocked the strike.
Shock flashed through Corvin's eyes.
"You... you actually took one of my palm strikes?"
Jared shook out his numb wrist.
A faint curve touched his mouth.
"Peak Golden Immortal Level Eight does have some strength. Still, you are not as strong as I imagined."
Corvin's face darkened.
"You do not understand death."
He charged again.
This time, he was even faster. Red-gold light left afterimages in the air, and each afterimage threw a palm strike from a different angle, surrounding Jared from every side.
Golden Crow Across the Sky.
Dozens of red-gold palm prints poured down like a storm, sealing every escape route.
Jared took a deep breath.
Chaotic force raced through his body.
Gray light poured out of him and merged into the violet sword-light. The Dragonslayer Sword spun in his hand, weaving a violet net of sword energy through the air.
